That's nice and everything, but I would also like to point out that just because Thief 4 is being made by a professional team of game developers doesn't mean that it's necessarily going to suck...
I never said it would, nor do I care. I *do* care about the Dark Mod team, and their monumental contribution to keeping the *true* spirit of Thief alive. Is that truly so bad, or hard to believe even? To *care* for something so dearly, while not also slighting something else in exchange?

Yup. It's pretty presumptuous of him to assume game developers have an easier time of making a game than the TDM team does. That it's somehow less an accomplishment.
Admittedly getting paid does probably make things a little nicer, but TDM didn't have to work under a budget, a time limit, or any sort of constraints. No matter how you look at it, making a game is not an easy job. Either studio work or fan work, both require dedication to get something done.

NO ONE SLIGHTED TDM AT ANY POINT DURING THE COURSE OF THIS THREAD!

TDM probably didn't have to deal with a flock of die-hard fanatics either, at least not on this scale.

TDM *was* the flock of die-hard fanatics!

Now that made me giggle, GmD.

TDM has been roundly brow-beaten by FM fanatics who love the Dark Engine more than Garrett 'n' stuff.

Actually, they did. There were some people who talked about TDM about the way some people are talking about T4 now.

Good for them, and good for you, I say. I care for the older Thief games, but I
also want Thief 4 to be a great game, unlike some other people in here.
And hey, you seem to care for classic Thief and TDM dearly, but you're also slighting Thief 4 at the same time. :p

Alright, fair enough. I vaguely remember some arguments in the past, but since I was never involved in them and haven't even tried TDM yet, I suppose they didn't seem that significant to me.

Broken Glass was already really down years ago, and now, members of the TDM forum are so used to being dogged that they don't know how to enjoy life with TDM not having a fight, and so they try and start them, making it unenjoyable to hang out there for me. I can't support them in the way they need, but since the days of ToolFan2007's endless trolling and no one putting a stop to it, I like to nip some things in the bud. Springheel's response was my cue. I can apologize to people who aren't in the loop of certain threads of history around here, but I'd never end catching each individual up, so don't expect different.
