Renz is the One True Keeper.
There is certainly much evidence to suggest this is true. :cheeky:

@Jay In 3rd-Person, I've always said that the Dark Engine and all the actual attempts by the devs to build the world in the narrative give the imagination something to seize upon. I have used the term Theater of the Mind, on several occasions.
However, stripping out the imagination and looking at words and objects and actual design choices, there is more world content in the sealed Old Quarter, Cragscelft, Karath Din, and the Maw, than all of TDS.

Eh? I haven't paid any money to the game developers yet. I kinda doubt that anyone here has. If the gameplay videos turn out to be a disappointment and the game gets bad reviews when it's released, then I'll think twice about buying it. But I certainly won't make any decision just yet, because, uh... why would I? But if you've already decided that you will definitely not buy Thief 4, what will you do if it actually turns out to be better than you expected? You may have denied yourself an opportunity to play a fantastic game. Or in reality, you'll just buy the game and end up looking a bit silly. That's alright too, but you've then just wasted all this time complaining here when you could have spent it on something a bit more positive. The whole situation reminds me a bit of (

Yes, all these new game elements are total BS, like the improved AI and the dynamic lighting and stuff, right? You mentioned earlier how sorry you were when TDM got "crapped on again" when someone (who had actually tried TDM) simply expressed his opinion on how one feature in it wasn't perfect, but here you are "crapping on" Thief 4 and I bet you're not feeling sorry at all. So who's being hypocritical? :p
I might just have to agree with what Renzatic said above.
What? I'm not even gonna try and tell you what sentences apply where and to whom. But for some things: TDM exists, and has existed for years in players' hands, and has informed discussions and information, and they are still dogged by the uninformed. T4 has not been touched by anyone here, yet the articles and images and dev's words already show things right up close and unmistakeable that are there for those of us who cannot abide certain things to see plainly. We just want to know to what degree it will be there, and what our options
truly are. If you think 1st-Person in TDS was a real option, you won't know what I'm talking about. TDM and T4 are so
different!

Dogged by the uninformed? Why did you feel the need to defend TDM against what was, at worst, a slight criticism?
You have a terrible tendency to take the smallest things and make very large issues out of them.

I played the whole game in first person and thought that it was a pretty good game, so yeah, I suppose I can quite safely say that it was a real option in TDS.
The way how you describe TDM and how it's been made by the players makes it sound like it's
totally perfect. Perhaps it is, I don't know, I've never tried it. But you sound a bit fanatic when you're defending it, when you can't tolerate even a minor negative comment about it (e.g. "TDM only partially succeeded at dynamic lighting"). And at the same time you will slate every change in Thief 4 that differs from the "classic Thief" formula with that same fanaticism (but without the same amount of information).

I would just like to point out that Dark Mod was produced, free of charge (short of owning Doom), with the blood, sweat, and tears of the most dedicated group of fans Ive ever seen in the history of crpg. Thief IV, not so much...

Springheel didn't think it was so slight, Renz'. He's the one invested in TDM, not I. You should see how worn down they are with the criticism. I find it more interesting how big a deal some of you are making out of it long after it's been done with. Also, who are YOU of all people to tell me I have a bad tendency like THAT? C'mon, man! YOU? Mr. FREAKING THE HELL OUT in ALL CAPS! :laff::laff::laff:

While I can't claim to have done
NEARLY as much as NH, Springheel, Sparhawk (whatever happened to him, anyway?), and the rest of the team...
...my name is listed in the credits.

That's nice and everything, but I would also like to point out that just because Thief 4 is being made by a professional team of game developers doesn't mean that it's necessarily going to suck...

It already does in several key areas, but I know you haven't noticed, so I already know where this is all going. They have time to fix some things, so we point them out, 'cause they haven't considered it from these vantage points.
I guarantee it will contain lots of true glory and be considered a good game (some will always call it great).
