Don't panic too soon. :cheeky:
I would just wait for more information to come through. :thumb:

Yeah I don't like the sound of third person actionmoves either. They should take a cue from Far Cry 3, which manages to pull off awesome takedown moves (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5YhR_wxxmA) without breaking first person view. My favourite is knifing a guard, then grabbing
his knife and throwing it into a second guard. (obviously Thief's moves should be less lethal tho).

You have to be using focus for these moves afaik.
I don't intend to use myself, I'll be playing on the purist "Give Me Thief" mode... and I will be avoiding any combat.
Though on my second playthrough, I might go rogue. :ebil:

:)
By getting rid of the flashy moves, and just making it quick and efficient as possible for not being a martial artist, the 1st-Person combat isn't hard to watch or control.

There certainly is a lot to like there.
Don't take someone's quote out of context when they weren't replying to the Eurogamer article - and drop the personal agenda.

That picture that was posted a few posts back was explained to be nothing more than Garrett bumping into a guard, when running at high speed. I actually think that is pretty neat that there's some kind of interaction when that happens instead of two models just...stopping at each other.
As I understood it, the 3rd person in combat is only used with the focus takedown moves, which in turn I understood to be something like fight scenes from the new USA Sherlock Holmes movies ((
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYHH4CcR9U8)). I don't like the fact that it's going to be 3rd person, but hopefully with my playstyle I won't doing those too much anyways.
What is the first really annoying info in my eyes is the fact that you cannot fall of narrow beams and have to mount/dismount them with a press of a button. The danger of falling was ever present in the previous Thief games and I felt mantling was a core element of the gameplay. You being good at mantling and navigating the enviroment helped you a lot - otherwise you would need to confront the guards in other ways. This sounds it could be way too easy.

So it's the "Swoop" mode, and it borrows the effect from Focus.
And yeah, there's still way too much AC movement in the game.

The fact that this is even being talked about, is a travesty...They've decided to implement a safety feature for children...What a shame.

Is this from years of training on games designed around earlier console controllers, 'cause to hear the people scoffing PC players, console controllers' sticks are now capable of fine movements. I never saw much improvement in gameplay vids, though. It always looks clunky without automation or expert hands. Also, I didn't know until recently that Dishonored will automatically turn the camera toward important conversations if the player is looking at something else! Can that be disabled?
