Ropes . . . - by ascottk

Ropes do work but it's strange. I used the GENrope16 static mesh (T3ed complained about an unpublished skin) then added the Climber:blsRope and set it to True in the properties dialog. You can climb the rope by hitting the jump key (space) repeatedly while holding the up key (w). In order to jump off the rope you can either release the up key or use another direction (I haven't successfully jumped into another direction). Rotating around the rope is done by the mouse. There is no animation for rope climbing (I think) so it looks pretty funny in third person. Could force first person mode.

It is interesting, and could possibly lead to a hacked rope arrow someday. I haven't looked much at the scripting, but I believe the behavior of the elemental arrows is not controlled through script, so that might be a problem. But if it's possible to cause a rope to be spawned at the impact point of an arrow within script, an "acceptable" first person version of rope arrow might be not long off.
