Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding in perplexing slo-mo through the glen ... - by Paz

When you've had enough you can write an essay on the depressing state of BBC telivision.

WORD ON THE STREET (probably from the BBC press department) is that this whole thing picks up from episode 3 onwards. So I'll stick it out a bit longer and see if that's in any way true.
We're now on episode, 5 or 6 is it? It's all gone seriously downhill with the danger of sinking below sea level.
Rearrange any of the following to construct your very own episode!
* Men with bows and arrows run through the woods
* Robin's sidekick (Much) does something annoying
* Much cracks a dire joke and/or whines
* Zooosh
* The fighty men go fighty-fighty
* Marian is in bed
* Marian is cross with Robin
* Marian does something stupid and needs rescuing
* The Sherrif makes a sinister speech
* Robin has a dilema
* Robin grins
* Robin flirts
* Robin hatches a cunning plan
* John laughs and stands firm
* A fight occurs in the 'castle-keep' set
* Merry Men sneak by guards in the 'castle-keep' set
* Merry Men speak to someone imprisoned in the Jail set
* Panning shot of (hungry/angry/sycophantic) peasants
* Robin and the Sheriff engage in banter
* Guy of Gisborne Rides A Horse/Is cross with Robin/Lets Robin get away
* Shot of Merry Men running away
* Campfire lolotics
The novelty value of the
zoooosh sound has warn off, and I've stopped watching. It's arse.

I wasn't fully paying attention, but in the episode yesterday, did Little John do a Matrix style 'suspended-in-mid-air' kick in one of the castle fight scenes? :weird:

I'm also in the "stopped watching" camp.
Actually, that's not quite true. I watched the repeat on Friday because there was little else on. It was still rubbish.
Boooo!

Well at the risk of getting stoned to death by the rest of you (*raises riot shield in preparation*), I've actually really been enjoying the show. Alright, perhaps not the most accurate/faithful portrayal of the Robin Hood story there's ever been, but then it was always intented to give more of a modern twist. For all intents and purposes I think it's been decent entertainment for a Saturday night, and I'd love a second series.
Okay then, let the bile flow... :p

Please form an orderly queue, boulders only:joke: ;)
It's each to his own DarkForge.
I for one saw one episode recently and I didn't think much of it to be honest. One of the merry men gets kidnapped and the poor sherriff (who no doubt visited the optician the next episode) takes most of the day to realise that it's a merry woman (obviously the anatomical differences aren't so noticable to the bad guys of Nottingham).
Just wasn't what I'd have called a real Robin Hood, I'm afraid I think a new series of Maid Marrian and her merry men should have taken up the Saturday slot :D
Or maybe a comedy based round Cosgrove Hall Films idea of Robin Hood (as depicted long ago in their cartoon series Victor & Hugo) which ran something along the lines of:
Robin Hood: I used to steal from the rich to give to the poor, but as soon as I gave to the poor, they became the rich so I had to steal from the rich who were the poor, to give to the poor who were the rich and, it got all rather complicated. So now I just steal from everyone - and keep it.
:cheeky:
