I think (but I'm not sure) that it has a lop-sided centre of gravity, giving the impression of it rolling on it's own accord. Just a guess.
So was the apple scripted to roll off the table anyway? I presumed it only rolled off 'cause I'd picked it up once and then put it down when I realised it was junk.
If it rolls off anyway then it must be scripted?

I think objects aren't affected by the physics system when the mission loads, so long as they are on a solid surface etc. So it'd stay where the designer placed it until you picked it up or bumped it (or there's probably some Blue-tac function to make this the case anyway).
Same thing happened to me. It's just so ...green, who can resist. At that point I was petrified of 'setting something scary off' by standing in the wrong place or making too much noise etc, so, like an idiot, I pick up the apple and put it down again. And away it goes! So I'm staring at the thing, and it seems to be going somewhere, then I'm looking around frantically wondering what the hell I've set off and what's coming to get me.
It's hilarious.

All electrics in the Cradle do indeed softly "breathe". If you stand in a room with several, you can watch them inhale, and exhale, ever so slowly.
I
thought so! Actually, I thought I was imagining it, or my monitor was going futzy.
The Apple Enigma - it's not just in this mission that apples roll forever. I tried it in the sewers on my way to the Pagans at the start of the game and, as long as you throw (not drop) it straight down, it will roll off in a straight line until its progress is blocked.

Maybe it's not scripted, then? I think it'd be cooler if it wasn't, in way, because then it's just you genuinely scaring yourself, as might happen in real life!
Oh just remembered...when first entering the cradle, I couldn't close the cellar door thing...it either wasn't frobbable or I wasn't trying hard enough... So as I descended the stairs I was waiting for it to suddenly slam down hard behind me. It didn't, though.

It's frobbable. Just have to get in a weird position to close it. It was one of the first things I did when I entered the Cradle because there's no way I am leaving a door open to my exposed back! Plus it's just old Thief habit to close doors behind me.
The second I closed it though, I had to make sure I could REopen it! And I could, so I was ok. It's only later when Garrett realizes it's locked.

the most scaryest level in a game ive ever played, well ive not finshed yet but somtimes the level designer actually creates a good scary feeling which is different from the feeling that you dont want to play this game anymore. but with this level it makes you hooked so he has done an amasing job :thumb: .
I noticed that in the birdmans room the birdcage falls off the shelf which got me freaked out because before that i had just picked the cell door and then i opened it and so out pops a late inmate of the cradle and that means the end of my holy water
