If this isn't the best Thief mission ever, I don't know what is. The textures, the architecture, the lighting, the enemies, the sound effects, the notes laying around... it's all incredible. The first half is reminiscent of Session 9. The second half is more like Silent Hill + System Shock 2 + The Suffering.

OMFG!! I can't beat this level!! Too freakin' creeped out!!!
When that girl started talking, I think I almost crapped myself. And when I saw 'em asylum inmates walking about, I knew it was time to turn the game off and play it another day.

This probably goes down as one of the greatest Thief levels of all time. The atmosphere is amazing!!! :wot:

I just now quit because this mission is freaking me the hell out. Oh god. The knocking in the attic sent me over the edge, I listened to the girl and then became a little girl myself and fled.

I know what you mean. I was playing that level around 4 in the morning, and I live in a 98 year old house. It makes so many sounds at night, I wasn't sure what was here and what was on the game. When I got up that staircase with the knocking, I swear I jumped out of my skin.
I still have to find the info on the Hag, but I used all my weapons on earlier creatures, so I think a restock and restart is in order!!

When I started it, it was late and I thought I'd just do the preliminary exploration, save, and go to bed.
Well, I wouldn't call what I did 'exploration', I managed to walk up some stairs and down a few corridors before I had the heebie jeebies so bad I knew I had to quit right then or I wouldn't sleep at all. And closing my eyes was STILL hard. I kept hearing things, lol.
Absolutely awesome mission, but I doubt I'll be revisiting the Cradle anytime soon. Can't give myself too many white hairs too fast!

I'm going to sound like a jackass, but I wasn't that impressed.
There were like 8 things in the entire level that attacked you, and I brought tons of flash bombs.
Yeah...scary noises...creepy writings... Whatever. It was a good level, but I expected it to be WAY worse.
System Shock 2 scared the hell out of me more.

Naw Psyco, to each his own, not everyone's going to find it scary. Creepy noises, atmosphere, story, full of suspense...that'll do it for some (/raise hand). Other people have to have things thrown at them- blood, guts, gore, and lots and lots of rabid nasties (which isn't for me, I find that boring, but my brother can't get enough of the stuff). Or people like my husband, who's gotta have both, and even then he usually just doesn't get it.
Huh, now that I think about it, I don't think I used any gear except for a noisemaker at the very end so I could have a clear run for the window.
That's not typical for me...I'm usually a resource hog. Which led me to have a lot of trouble in the final mission....
I had 3 water arrows to make it from Auldale to South Quarter with, depositing artifacts along the way. That was darn near as stressful as the Cradle was for me!
Please help, I've completed everything on the Cradle except I can't find:
The info on the Hag? Where is it?
Thanks in advance...

Same problem as Honeymaker over there.
PS. As far as I'm concerned, Shalebridge Cradle is the new Return to the Cathedral.
PPS. There's one annoying thing about the 'residents' of the Cradle....
No matter how hard you take them down, if you go near them they get back up again! :wot:
