Richard Donner passed away on Monday:

The first two Superman films are the obvious ones to mention in any tribute. I don't think it's just nostalgia to say they were the best in the series, striking the right balance between being serious but also keeping things fun and optimistic.
Just look at the helicopter scene:

The Omen and Scrooged also deserve a mention. Quite a contrast between those two. For me, those four films have left a lasting and positive impression. His IMDB list shows the huge variety of things he worked on, an awful lot of which seems to have been well received.
When learning about any film we start to learn of disagreements between the director, the producer, the cast, and so on. The need to remember they're all part of the same team.

The Lethal Weapon series deserve at least as much mention as the ones above.
As far as Superman 2 goes, depending on which version you have either Donner or his co-director Richard Lester will be uncredited (at least on the original releases).

"It's all for you, Damien." Omen was a good horror. I got to see a sheet of glass slide off the back of a truck and decapitate a man in that movie which was something I had often wondered about. I have seen a case of fifty sheets of single strength glass fall forward into a guy and break all around him without cutting him anywhere at all. It was amazing. I saw twenty sheets of mirror do the same thing with the same guy. I work for that guy.
