My new low level Argonian Ninja is looking for a nice ring to match "mara's ring" which he recently hacked of the finger of some female vampire.
The ring of the wind looks like it's something he could really benefit from owning (constant effect 30pts agility on self) so i did some research -
Quote:
You get this ring as a part of Imperial Cult's quests.
However you don't have to be in the cult to go claim it
as your own. Go to Nammu which is west of Tel Aruhn on
the mainland. You pass 2 islands west of Tel Aruhn and
come to a small bay on the mainland, the cave will be
in the bay, inside a lagoon. Inside of Nammu, you will
find Galmis Dren, who's got the ring. Whack him and
take the ring.
Now my Ninja doesn't think he'll be joining the imperial cult any time soon BUT i would like to know what will happen if and when i do join. In particular will the quest giver throw me out of the faction, tell me off, or praise my ability to predict his wishes? Also what is the specifics of this quest? Is the quest simply to kill this Galmis Dren or is there more to it? Basically should i make sure i get something/do something before leaving to complete the quest?
Thanks for your time.

It should make absolutely no difference in how the quest giver (the oracle) treats you. Also don't just attack everyone in that dungeon (retaliation is fair though).

Thanks WingedKagouti; i take it this is no normal cave? Your last sentace suggests there are some non aggressive npcs in the place - I don't normally kill anyone who doesn't attack me first. Is this cave full of npcs or are there any monsters in it?
Thanks again. :D

Oh, it's "normal" in that it's inhabited with NPCs (and maybe a few critters, but nothing major); WK's being subtle though, and I'm not inclined to spoil the reward for you as I know you can be careful ;)
(Btw, I've a hunch that doing this quest will make the Oracle skip giving you credit for it, and maybe screw up her giving any IC quests previous to it, but I could be wrong on that latter bit)

Hmmm... that's annoying - i don't know what to do now. :erg:

Well, unless someone beats me to it, when I get home I'll pop it open in the editor and give you a definitive answer.
Edit: Alrighty, here's how I think it'll work... 1st off, it's the 1st quest she gives you so go ahead and get the ring (just don't lose it ;)). 2ndly, if you ever do join and get to the point where you can ask her for Oracle quests, you may have to ask her about 'Ring of Darkness' twice.

Thanks a lot Forsythe i appreciate you doing that for me. :)

Ok i went to Nammu and after
dirtying my daedric dai katana on some individuals who give outlanders a bad name I eventually found Galmis Dren at the top of an impressive wooden structure in a large cave.
I proceeded of course to introduce My Dren to Mr Daedric Dai Katana and took the ring from his corpse. After looting the place which i might add has some very nice items for a level 7 character to use / sell (including a summon golden saint scroll) i noticed
a non aggressive redguard named jon. Before speaking to jon i saved because he was obviously going to have something important to say. Once he had told me of his plight he asked me for a divine intervention scroll (which i gave to him) and left giving me his two gloves. Now this is where i become suspicious because not only do the gloves seem to be owned by a guy called 'Zenithar' but my journal suggests there is something strange about the fact Dren didn't take them when he stole Jon's other items.
From my memory 'Zenithar' has been mentioned on this forum before in regards to some sort of mark/or curse - have these gloves anything to do with this guy and his mark? Will i be cursed? Should i find Zenithar and give him back these gloves? Where is Zenithar? Why didn't Mr Dren take the gloves? Shall i trust my instincts and load the game up just before speaking to jon and leave without a word?
Also i found a few Ash Staues which i thought may look nice in my house but i'm concerned that they are needed for the quest and/or they give you bad dreams ( ;) ) and make it likely that you'll be attacked by a corpus stalker when you're sleep near them. Can anyone confirm or deny these worries?
Thanks to anyone who has managed to read all the way to the end of this lengthy post. ;)
[EDIT]
I've just found out that Zenithar is in fact one of the Eight Divinities (Aedra) and in particular the God of Work and Commerce; he supposedly appears to you as a guy called Wulf in the tower of dusk after you meet Vivec during the main quest. I don't know if this helps but i thought i should mention it just in case.?

Actually, you're mixing up your deities here; Jon Hawker (Hawkins? something like that..) is an avatar of Zenithar who's rewarding you for being a good person. Wulf is an avatar of Tiberius (I think that's his name, anyhow), the Imperial Emperor that founded the Empire. You also meet up with an avatar of one (maybe two) other Imperial Cult deities while doing the Oracle quests.
Edit: Oh, and re: the ash statues, I'd say go ahead and decorate; nothing I know of checks for ash statues before you sleep ;) (Now, ash ghouls can jump you if you slep in town after a certain point in the main quest, but that's another story...)

LOL cheers forsythe; i never knew about the Aedra appearing to you in game and although the journal gives you a VERY vague clue i wonder how every one found out for certain?
It's good to know Morrowind can still surprise me every so often. :D
