I've figured out that I can change the way she's spinning if I imagine the direction before I open the image. Like if I want her to turn counterclockwise, I just imagine her spinning to the left. Vice versa for right.
I haven't managed to get her to change directions while looking directly at the image. I'm still trying, though.

I agree that in the public's mind, the only interesting thing you need to know about the brain is right hemisphere or left hemisphere ... as if it's just got two working parts.
I'll be happy the day somebody cracks the brain problem like Einstein cracked the gravity problem and people won't even have the chance to make stuff like this up, but we'll have some workable, intelligible theory to actually build off of.

I wonder....is it possible to unknowingly switch from left-brained dominance to right-brained dominance as life goes on? Through elementary school, middle school, and high school, I would have sworn I was left brain dominant. I was logical, a math/science wiz, etc. Except, for the last few years, I've been slowly starting to think and act like a right brained person (I'm even using my left hand more, like to move my mouse and stuff, but not for writing yet), seeing things in pictures and sounds and finding it more difficult to think in words/numbers.
Wierd, eh? (No I'm NOT Canadian)
