While trudging round some daedric ruins I flicked to my inventory only to find that all four of my armour skills were drained to 0. The only explanation I can think of is that I had a disintegrate armour spell bounced back at me from some enchanted ring I used. I've tried everything I can think of to get it back to normal but nothing seems to solve my problem. I am aware of the console commands to set skills to certain amounts, but the problem is that I can't remember what level my skills were. Is there any way that I can restore the skills to their original values and is this what disintegrate armour actually does?

I don't think this is how reverse disintegrate armour should work at all; likely it should just reduce the condition of whatever armour you happen to be wearing. More likely, you've been hit with a spell that does a "Reduce Skill (insert armour type here)" effect (did you unwittingly open a trapped lock, or face a mage in battle?).
You should go to the nearest Imperial Cult shrine and tithe for the "restore attributes" blessing. I just checked the script for it and it does the following:
Cast "Restore Attributes" Player ;restore eight attributes
Cast "Restore Fighter" Player ;restore eight fighter skills
Cast "Restore Mage" Player ;restore eight mage skills
Cast "Restore Stealth" Player ;restore eight stealth skills
Cast "Restore Other" Player ;restore three other skills
So it restores a lot more than just the attributes; it should restore the skills, as well.
Let me know if it works.

Did you by any chance ever pick up a sword named "Fury"? It's supposed to lower your armor skills temporarily, but has a known bug that lowers them permanantly. If your Morrowind is patched to the latest version then the restoration blessing mentioned in the previous post will fix it (if you're using the original release version of Morrowind, you'll need to update it first). I think an Almsivi Restoration blessing will work too.

Yeah, Fury was probably what did it, thinking back and I'm on version 1.0 so that would explain the shrines not working. I started a new game as a pure mage anyway, using no armour (aside cloth bracers to fix the bug) and only staves and daggers. The game always gets far too easy before long anyway.
