I'm sorry about the spawn problem guys! I'll make a few changes to just the first level and have a patch ready tonight (hopefully). Until then, try and be sneaky and aviod confrontation until you get some big guns.
JohnnyTheWolf on 10/6/2005 at 21:10
Huh... wait a minute. You mean there will be this kind of respawn on the three other levels too? *Glups* I'm not sure I want to see what happens when you trigger an alarm then...

This is version 1.01, not 1.1.
There's a working pistol on the body just behind the doors of the Mall. Although I must say that with such respawning rate, it becomes useless pretty quickly. :p
Yeah, sorry about that, didn't mean to confuse anyone, and I found some firearms on my second run through, but the hybrids were still popping up in front of me. So I'm going to give it a rest until tomorrow, see if the respawning can get sorted out.

I'm going wrench only for this. Crazy, yes since this is my first real run through here Still, must be constaintly challanged.

Being the zealous critter that I am I like to peruse all threads, this one particularly because its the latest and greatest......but please people...use spoiler tags. Any major work should be kept secret from those who haven't played if for obvious reasons. :)

Here's a patch for severe limiting the spawning on the first level:
(
http://www.strangebedfellows.schwarzsilber.de/BIGuploads/spawnpatch.zip) Spawn Patch
HOW TO USE: Just extract the earth.mis file to your SS2 directory, overwriting the current earth.mis. THEN YOU MUST START A NEW GAME! IF YOU LOAD YOUR SAVED GAME, YOU WILL NOT BE PLAYING THE UPDATED LEVEL!
Some other questions:
Have each of you downloaded the file that is titled "RTTUNNv1.01.zip" and extracted at least the earth.mis file contained in that archive?
I just started a brand new game, and played for 15 minutes. I met a total of two pipe hybrids in the street. Just two. So if you have these spawning problems please make sure that you are using the latest earth.mis and then you must START A NEW GAME!
The reason you have to start a new game is because save games save the mission that you were playing before. You saved game would have the old saved earth.mis. It's just the way SS2 is, but start a new game.
I was able to play through the whole first part of the level, the movies theater too, and then get into the Titus Facility. This was all on a laptop with a touchpad. You can do it people! You can stay alive!

Okay guys, I need to ask you some serious questions:
Have each of you downloaded the file that is titled "RTTUNNv1.01.zip" and extracted at least the earth.mis file contained in that archive?

Well, I've downloaded the .zip you mentionned, but I still encounter 6 to 7 respawned hybrids that know precisely where I am, even if I carefully avoid any camera and walk silently.
I hate to say it, but this respawn rate ruins the immersion and the tension of the beta levels, although such respawning would be acceptable if it occures only when the alarm is triggered.
As I said before, it's like being stuck on Ops D and I hate this sector!
EDIT: Oops! Silly me! Didn't see the link in your post!

Now, I must say this is perfect.
I'm now in the gardens and, despite the all-knowing but at least rare respawned pipe hybrids, I must say that the ambience is FANTASTIC!!!
Super great job, Blaydes! :thumb:
EDIT: Thumbs up to the one who does
the guy that got killed by a monkey!
William Dojinn on 11/6/2005 at 01:57
Bang up job. Got swarmed by hybrids in the first level, spawn rate's a bit high(i didn't use the upgrade patch yet, likely won't till next playthrough) still but after a few appropriate upgrades it isn't so bad.
the seconed battery? You know, the one that the hint says is being held by a monkey. Only monkey I haven't baped is the one in the room that you can see in the QBR room(has two windows, no readily apparent door). This will sound stupid but how do you kill it? I just KNOW it has the card. got the third battery early on while exploring so...feh, kinda stuck).
Great job to everyone who's contributed voice talent thusfar.
Especially the guy that guides you through.
'Monkey's like two things. Crispy chips, and shiney things.'
Some reason that reminds me of caboose off RvB.

Couple things I noticed..
One: Whenever you open a container it has the noise of you drinking a juice.
Two: In the Barracks A (I think) The helpblock says "Xerxes" instead of whoever is the english AI involved.
EDIT: Actually the game has a habbit of changing the noises for reason one and number two isint limited to the help signs, Its also in the gamepig.
