Don't know if this has been reported yet but after uninstalling RTUNN 1.01, strings.crf and/or chargen.str don't get changed back so I have text from RTUNN appearing onscreen when I play the original campaign.

Did you install via the ModManager?
Have you deactivated the RTTUNN1.01 FM and any other FMs/Mods?
Are there still files with .ss2mmbak - extensions in your strings folder?
Then try the following:
Change the .ss2mmbak files to their original names. (Keep backups of the current files.)

I didn't use the ModManager. But I will after having created a clean re-install of the game. My directory was messed up anyway. Noticed there were even files from Ionos Fear's testlevel floating around.

I am playing this mod for the first time. I think the level design is fantastic.
But the problem is, the respawing is out of control and its really destroying my ability to truly enjoy and explore this beauty.
I do have the "spawn patch" installed, but that only covers the very first map (and it did work there).
The problem now is that I am at the Tri-op facility (you reach after the shuttle launch) and the spawning is driving me crazy. Every hybrid I put down is followed by another just seconds later. Even the psi-reaver I killed was replaced before I could finish getting a look around the room he was in.
I have the "no_spawn" line in my user.cfg -- doesn't seem to help at all.
A version 1.1 was alluded to, but it seems to have never materialized. Any ideas to control the respawning short of actually editing the mission? P.S. - I installed the mission using GarretLoader.

I personally went through the levels and turned the spawning wayyyyyy down (virtually off). Despite that, the first level has been slightly buggy (too big) so perhaps a problem there propagates to the other levels). But, there is hope! Have you tried the download from strangebedfellows? I'm pretty sure that that is the most updated download and should fix some of your problems:

... should contain the best download. I'm going to try and get thiefmissions to update the download with this one (although strangebedfellows is the definite site for all SS2 community resources, it is superb).
In the meantime, can sombody please let me know if the spawn patches or the new release fix any of these issues?

blaydes99,
I downloaded mine from thiefmissions.com. The version number was 1.01.
I will download the "updated" 1.01 from strangebedfellows and start the mission over again. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks!

I understand you've got a life and other concerns, but what is the status on the promised followup mission? If you can't, thats fine, if you can, GREAT. No pressure, just wanting some sort of 'official' update.

Good to hear from you again Mr. Dojinn!
As for the RTTUNN follow-up, well, I haven't been working on it, and it still exists. The levels design is fresh and new (no Von-Braun clones here!). I promise that they will have no spawning issues because every mission will be clean and neat (under the hood). I love outdoor areas and architecture... I don't like hallways nearly as much.
I think the stupid spawn issues hurt how RTTUNN was received, but hopefully people enjoyed the cool level design and other things (rain, new objects, textures, etc). Maybe that first level was too large, and perhaps the ecologies went on the fritz because of it.
Well, at any rate, to answer your question directly, there is nothing close to release at the moment. As soon as I find some more free time (maybe when I start on my polyphasic sleep schedule, I'll have time), I may fire up the old missions again and pick up where I left off. Right now I just don't have time...
William Dojinn on 4/10/2006 at 06:06
Polyphasic sleep? Without consulting the all knowing wiki, what's that?
And i understand, time is something you only have so much of, so don't sweat not being able to go and please a few ungrateful fans :)
And while the spawning issue might have hurt it in some respects ,I actually LIKED how the spawning was once you managed to get a few med hypos...at least till you get to the ninja infested deck. That place still gives me nightmares(I love it!).
I think part of what hurt things was ponterbee station's release which is, lets face it, gigantic even when compared to your own works. We still have a special place in our hearts for your work though, always will.
Oh and if you need an extra voice, I'll be willing to chipp in(if you can bear the crappyvoice(TM) that I've got).
kidmystik101 on 4/10/2006 at 06:23
Great! hope you find some time in the near future blaydes, I'm currently re-playing through RTTUNN (the rain on the triop facility is great!). I'm also willing to lend my good* voice to the cause.
*"good" meaning high pitched and annoying:p
