The level of spawning itself should not be a problem as it is roughly equivalent to that in the original game, the problem (IMHO, of course) is that the 'GotoLoc' flag is set on the generators. This means that the monsters automatically run to where the player is (if possible) when spawned, just like for a camera/alert spawn. That pushes the apparent spawn level up markedly as you have to fight them pretty much as soon as they are spawned in. This would also explain why the spawn complaints seem a bit random- if you are in a non-pathable area when the spawning occurs the AI won't run to you (it can't, so its behaviour defaults to normal, I believe) and the apparent spawn level drops.
I wish I would have know this when I was making the missions! I might just have to fix all those generators so that things operate like normal. Thanks for the tip Zygo!

DAMN!!! :eek: 3 cyber-assassins at a time!!!
Ok, guys, if you can't save a game, just create a folder named current in your ss2-rttunn directory.

When I tried to play this, the cutscene at the start was upside down and reversed (very hard to read). Any idea how to fix it?
Not played much, but it looks very good, by the way.

Hi.
Been away a long time (3 yrs). Checked in and saw the FMs available. I'd lost my original copy and had to eBay a new copy. I'm having some problems getting it to run that I haven't seen elsewhere in this thread.
I have a fresh install, followed by the official patch. I installed SHTUP (which I think wasn't about when I was here last) with no problems. I installed Rebirth (which was) with no problems. I installed RTUNN as per the instructions. I still get the original intro when I launch the game - I take it that's not right. When I get off the tram at the very start I get a message saying 'To be continued' rather than the '4 Years earlier..' message. Everything else plays like the original training part of the game. At the end of one of the Missions I get some text about surviving on the UNN Gallo and troops going back to finish off the Many. When the game starts proper, there is an audio running about turning up some new energy modules on street level (or something like that).
I've tried twice now with the same results. Any help would be gratefully received. It's late so I'll try again tomorrow (or try one of the other mods)

TonyM19 - if you still see the initial training mission, you haven't properly extracted all of the files from the .zip into the root folder of your SS2 directory. Let me know which program you are using to handle compressed files, for example, Winrar (the best), Winzip, etc.
In the mean time, simply try selecting all the files and folders that you see in the RTTUNN.zip that you've downloaded, click "Extract", and point them to the root folder of your SS2 installation. You'll know it worked if you see something completely different when you start a new game.

Wow, that was quick!
My fault. It works fine now. I had extracted the .zip file to a separate folder and then copied the contents over to the rot directory. D'oh!
Thanks for the quick response. I'm going to be up till the crack of dawn playing it now though!

I can't find the first keycard. I also noticed the doors on the second floor of the building next to the spot where you begin the game won't open. Are the two problems related?

Check the lone cyber assassin on the second level for the key card to the UNN Facility. As for the doors on the second floor, I couldn't actually put the apartments behind them because ShockED wouldn't let me add any more brushes to the level without crashing, so its not a bug. Have fun!

I will! Thanks for creating this fan mission.

Finished the mission in just under 4 hours. Enjoyed it thoroughly! :thumb:
Positive aspects:
* Mission offers something new rather than reusing the textures from the Von Braun. This really felt like being on an entirely different place.
* Great care for details. Yes, I noticed that corpse flying out there in space.
* Hidden passageways and weapon stashes do add to the level of immersion.
* Female computer voice.
* Branching storyline.
Things I didn't like:
* Audio logs sound muffled and not very clear.
* The story is underdeveloped. I don't really know where the many or the cyber midwives came from or how they got to the Gallo.
* "I've always felt that the beauty of SS2 is the elegant use of space and making the player feel alone rather than constantly mobbed. I'm not one to critcize but it kinda plays down the creapy factor and plays up the Doom factor when I can expect a new enemy immediately upon dispatching the old one." (jc_on_mdma)
Other things I noticed:
- In the latrines on Deck C of the Gallo there is an audio log that plays speech of Prefontaine from the original campaign.
- There is a log by Korenchkin in the TriOP Facility. Seemed a bit weird finding it there. Do you want me to record a log with a similar message?
- Cyber assassins respawn very fast on Deck C of the Gallo. Couldn't search the whole area because of that.
- Hybrids respawn very fast on Deck A of the Gallo. Chose to wait at Utility Storage 5 and attacked them when they came around the corner. Accumulated about 30 hypos and 40 fragmentations grenades that way.
