Where approximately are you pinned down? All the betas I played, the respawn rate was really mild throughout the first three levels. Now, in a later map I could sit in a corner and wrench a homing monkey every ten seconds (they really piled up), but blaydes said he fixed that.
I was trapped in the first map, just inside the door you need a keycard for, right before assault droid. If you go through the keycard door, and head straight down the hallway, then, when you reach the counter, turn to your left, the corner there is where I was. Hybrids were coming from both ahead of me, and behind me, and I was so busy whacking them all that I didn't have a chance to breathe, let alone go anywhere.
I've just finished clearing out Deck B on the spaceship Gallo, I believe it was, and the spawning there seemed a wee bit heavy. Otherwise, everywhere else, it's been fine. To help me through the first map, I slipped no_spawn in user.cfg, and I just removed it, so for all I know, the spawning could've been insanely heavy in the previous maps, too. I just removed it for this last map.
So far, aside from the spawning in the first map, I'm having a total blast. :thumb: I'm really loving the logs, they're all turning out really well, too. :cheeky::thumb:

It crashes for me, each time on the tram ride, when you approach the man and turret. :( Specifically, the game freezes and the current sound (usually the 2nd email, or the turret whirring) loops the first second or so.
First time round I screwed up the installation, so I reinstalled the game. I then followed the installation instructions carefully from that clean install, and am confident that I have done it right. By the way, the installation instructions are slightly confusing (redundant/duplicated information).

Okay everybody, I've reduced the respawn in all of the levels, but most importantly the first level should be bearable now. Here's the link to the new download:
(

THE ABOVE DOWNLOAD IS AROUND 38.4 MB
Also, my little homepage now reflects the correct Full download: (

Optionally, you can turn off the spawning like TNT did, but I suggest the updated download.
*chuckles nervously* Well, the respawning settings didn't do anything to the mission. It just wouldn't work. So, I took more drastic measures. I figured if I I knew exactly where a spawn point was, if I'd seen at least 5 hybrids spawn in front of my eyes, and I could get to the spawn point in DromEd, it was fair game to delete. :erm: I think I ended up deleting all of the spawn points immediately available in the mission. I couldn't wait for a patch of any kind, I had to have it right away, what can I say?
I just finished the missions, and let's just say, I don't think I've had quite that much fun in SS2 in a while. The spawning was pretty crazy, on Deck C I believe it was,
my melee weapon skills saved my ass beyond belief. I wandered in there, wielding the wrench, and I was hit by a non-stop wave of cyborg assassins. They were coming at me fast enough that I couldn't get another weapon handy, so I pretty much had to run, and wrench whoever I could. I made a break for the bridge, quick-saved once I was at the top of the grav shaft, then thought I was safe. That was until I walked out of the shaft and looked to my right . . . After all that, my hands are shaking pretty bad. Hell, all of me is shaking. That was sooo much fun. :thumb:I think I'm going to go create a second SS2 installation and leave RTUNN installed there, I don't want to loose my saves, and it's worth the trouble, IMO. You want me to comb through the missions when I'm more alert, see if I can find anything that might need fixing? I came across a few things, but I was half asleep, and forgot to take notes. :nono:

I'm glad you had fun TNT - sorry about the respawning. The ecologies must be all hosed up or something.
Could it be, that possibly you were trying to play through this thing with only the wrench? If so, you were definitely punishing yourself.
The updated download (low spawn-rates) should be available from SBF in a while, plus a (
www.thiefmissions.com) and (
www.sshock2.com) mirror should be up soon!

And Ajare, for your crashes, there are a few options. I'm going to PM you and tell you what you can do about it.
Moron alert. (Yes that's me). After I had reinstalled, I had forgotten to do the hyperthreading fix/safe_texture_manager necessary to get SS2 working on my system. :o
All is well. Also, I can mirror too if you need it, blaydes.
blaydes99 on 10/6/2005 at 16:59
I' m glad that you got it working Ajare! Grab the updated version if you can also!
Okay, here's a completely working mirror (updated 1.01 download) hosted by www.thiefmissions.com!

Maybe you could edit your start post with all the new information, it makes things easier for people new to the thread who start downloading first and reading the thread later :)

Yeah, that's such a great idea that I went ahead and did it! Check out the first post and see if everything looks alright. The download link provided is to the complete updated version, and the RTTUNN homepage has been updated as well!

It was like there was an alarm going off constantly. :erm: It wasn't a big deal, once I was past the first map, everything was good. It was just the combination of hybrids coming from
both inside the facility and the streets, I could handle one or the other, not both.Quote:

 Nope, actually. I'm just not used to having a ranged weapon equipped, so I stuck to what I was used to. I guess it's just because of all my melee only games, but if it comes down to it, I can murder anything in my path with a melee weapon, assuming quick-saves and loads are allowed. I didn't even think of whether it could be done melee only, actually, but there's always next time to investigate . . .
