Is there an ETA for the patch?
blaydes99 on 20/6/2005 at 14:36
No ETA for the patch just yet G'len. I'm still taking a "break" but I've been pretty busy with work and other "stuff".
The good news is that most of the bugs can and will be fixed.
The bad news is that some of the bugs may not be fixable (ex. hearing a soda can when you use everything). I'm pretty sure that the problem is related to a room brushing problem on the first level. I'm going to try and fix that today, but I make no promises. The problem is that all the rooms have become "UNKNOWN" instead of "Default Room" and I can't compile the room database without crashing ShockEd. (Too many rooms?)
Shouldn't be too long to wait for the patch. Maybe I'll release a true respawn reduction patch before 1.1...

The only place respawning is a problem for me is in deck C of the gallo. Everywehere else is reletivly siumple if you keep yoru ehad about you. Deck C is a pure outright nightmare.

Yes, small spaces and cyborg assasins do not mix
Despite that, I've rather enjoyed the Gallo - I've got more use from a shotgun than I have in ages! I'll have to actually try a Marine in vanilla SS2 sometime soon, and remember to actually use weapons other than the wrench and laser pistols :p
And nice hiding place for the stasis generator ....if only I'd thought to take points in heavy that would make the bridge a wee bit easier. Speaking of there nice job hiding the brains around the corner. Of course I shoulda come out and fight like a woman, instead of cowering in the grav lift :laff:
Kudos though to everyone, it was fun start to finsh!
....... and much less frustrating after I got the spawn patch installed >.<

You didn't have the cyborg assassins running into the lower section of the grav shaft? I was literally chased there by them, quick-saved at the top of the shaft, then they started throwing stars up my ass. If I stayed still, I'd've died, so I just ran for it. I didn't have any time to change weapons, so it was quite the experience to put it mildly. If I hadn't tried so many odd ways of playing SS2 I might've been screwed. :o

Past, present and future, actually - I've done it before in Deus Ex and some of Thief :) Mmmm, DTS. Mmm, blackjack!

Oh eyah they were there, i booked it from the elevator, around the corner (pushing past a couple of them, swiped the card and hopped in. Quicksave then waited - the sneaky buggers took their time so every time I got about 1/2 down on the psireaver ....*thwip!buzz* *thwip!buzz* But that's what the grenade launcher, aimed straight down is for... :ebil: *BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!*

Join Ussssss.
I've decided to go back and see what I could find in way of hidden passages in both the mall and the UNN facility. I do remember this one air duct that, while i could go down, I had absolutly no idea how to exit...right near the shuttle too.
*shrug*

The computer voice was synthesized. ZB found a site that does it. We did the stuffy female british voice. Works really well doesn't it? The fact that it's synthesized is actually a good thing because she represents a computer AI voice.
What site are you talking about?

I've finished the Return in about two and a half hours... end enjoyed every moment of it! (well, almost every moment - these Assassins on Deck C were ANNOYING, you can't just sit and listen to a long from the beggining to the end because of them! :().
Overall it was very well done, utilizing many of SS2's features well and in a flawless manner. The plot was fine, and got even better towards the end, and the movies were a nice touch (even though they all had a garbled part in their beginnings - was that intentional?). Architecture was solid and the whole thing was visually stunning; the rain in the Trioptimum part was an excellent addition to the atmosphere as well.
The real downsides I see with this FM:
1) Respawn rates on the Gallo (Deck C had the worst, but all of the ship had too many of it).
2) Many logs were hard to understand from hearing along; I think that their volume has to be raised.
3) Several logs were exacly the same as in the original SS2, just with the date changed; another (on the Gallo, I don't remember which deck) had a new text but an old (Prefontaine's description of the Psi Reavers) voice.
4) A few crawlspaces were hard to get in and/or get out of; I was unable to exit the tunnel leading from the UNN Shuttle Bay to the roof (?) on the roof side.
One good thing about the respawning rates - they've got me into using the wrench as my primary weapon, which I greatly enjoyed!
