Resolution Troubles. - by MatCon5

I posted this at SBF but figured it wouldn't hurt to try here as well.
My specs are Win7 64bit/GTX 260/4GB Ram/1400x900 native resolution BenQ monitor.
----
Here's the process I take to install System Shock 2
I copy over the SHOCK folder from my disc. Rename it to SShock2 (Location is C:\Games\SShock2)
I run SSTool 2.8 Selecting everything.
The installer hangs until I end ddfixgui.exe process from the task manager.
Widescreen mod starts up. I enter 1400 then 900 then 100.
Installation completes.
I go the the SShock2 folder and run ddfixgui.exe with admin rights. Drop down box says "Custom" I click Apply, shock2.exe is patched.
--I've also tried installing all of SSTool minus the DDFix and Widescreen mod, then using SSTool twice more installing DDFix first, then Widescreen mod, still same results--
I run the game to see if it worked, the main menu looks fine, I have black bars on the sides nothing seems stretched etc.
I go into Audio options and turn off hardware acceleration, so sound works now.
I start a new game, watch the movie if I like, or load a game. After the loading bar fills up I get Windows sound and the screen flickers a bit, I ALT+TAB to see the "Your video hardware is not compatible with System Shock 2 (sorry!)" Message.
After that I install Mod Manager and Rebirth and SHTUP and try it again, with the same results as above.
No 16:10 resolution works for me, since 1400x900 is my native resolution.
16:9 resolutions that work are anything lower than 1365x768 (1365x768 itself does not work same problem as above)
4:3 resolutions that work are anything below 1280x960 but some just give me a black screen, while others are off center or stretched and squished and not very playable.
I'm currently using 4:3 1152x864, as it's the most playable at the moment, though filling the whole screen and looks kind of stretched. I haven't played this game before, so I'm not sure how it's supposed to look, or what settings would work best for me.
Under Video settings in game it shows my resolution but at 16 color depth.. is there a way to get it to 32? maybe that's the problem...?
So there ya have it, not sure what else to try to be able to use 1400x900, or even how to use a lower resolution and get black bars or something to keep the aspect ratio so my image isn't stretched or anything. Not sure if Windows 7 is keeping the DDfix or widescreen mod from installing/working correctly but it doesn't seem so, as it works but gives me that message after trying to actually play.
Hope someone can help me sort this, or I'll have to play at 1152x864 and it not look as good as it could =(
Cheers

Thanks in advance :)

Resolutions are always listed as 16-bit there. With DDFix installed, it will be silently bumped up to 32-bit.

Any advice as to why I get the unsupported video error when using my native/desktop resolution?
It seems no matter what working resolution I use apart from a few, the image I get looks the same.
Like.. 1024x768 and 1152x864. Look identical.. or is that what the Widescreen mod does.. or is it my monitors scaling sizing it to my screen?
Cheers

Doubt it, dude. This forum is low volume at this point.
Even if it was, I'm sure that the user would be glad to get any help on his problem.

Nah, it's only a couple of weeks so it's cool.
