To add those skins you were supposed to rename them with the names of existing skins. For example you would remove Guard_U and rename the Mechanist upper body part with that name and put it in it's place.
The Readme said to do this.

Uh yes, but doing so, you have no more the hammerites! :-)
That's why I'm doing all this!
Having a neutral model in .max offers the possibility to add any combination you want, without losing anything. So, you are able to create new models.
