The spell description for fire sheild says it greatly reduces fire damage. Is this a % resist thing to do with magnitude like resist, or is it fixed at a level regardless of the spell's magnitdue? I was wondering which would be better to make enchanted items do.

I think that resist fire just lowers the chance of being affected by a fire-based spell, while fire shield actually reduces the damage.

I wouldn't bother. There's an artifact called Dragonbone Cuirass that has resist 100% fire damage, constant effect. If you want you can go looking for it, but chances are you won't find it. The location is below.
Go southwest of Ebonheart. There are a small group of islands. On one is a door (underwater) leading to Mudan Grotto. You're gonna definately need a water breathing spell if you don't have much HP. Keep following the grotto's path and you'll find a lost dwemer ruin. The cuirass isn't too hard to find, but it's in a closet with a level 100 lock. You can pick it, or enter the west wing (I think) to find Peek Utchoo's corpse (get it? Pikachu!) He has a key which opens a dwemer draw. Inside that is the key to the closet. You'll have to look around for everything, but it shouldn't be too hard.
Good luck... And remember, I don't approve of just reading where to find stuff... *cough cough*

Yeah, but I have my curiass of the savour's hide, and want to make enchanted pauldrons for fire and ice resistance, but was wondering if ice/fire shiled were better? I have azura's star and a ring of summon golden saint so I can make anything I want*. BwHahahah

Pauldrons are not very good for enchantments, this is only 6 "enchant points" at most (deadric) deadric gauntlets are better as they have 60 points i think.
(but i dont´t have tribunal so i am not sure)

It's common knowledge that Exquisite Rings and Daedric Towershields are best, along with Ebony Staves. Remeber that the enchantment is still in effect with the shield even if you use a two-handed weapon.
