Thank you, Bikerdude! All this info is of great help! Looks like I've got a bit of literature to go through, it's about time I got slightly more tech savvy with this sort of equipment. And this last 22'' Dell is looking very sweet!

Hey, cheers! In all honesty, something just below 200quid for a screen seems doable. And with a mate of mine just have bought a new screen with what looks to be a dead pixel right in the center of it and an unsavory warranty system, those Dell servicing conditions are really starting to shine.
Uh, one question (of non-technical nature for once): when they say "£8 charge per kilo thereafter 0.30" they mean it's 8 pounds for the first kilo, and then 30 pence for each additional one?

which website are you referring too..? In either case i would go with overclockers as they are a big shop, so if there is a prob you can go back to them for support - and their shipping charge is about £9 fpr that monitor...

It was in the first one you linked, on their delivery rates page: (

Though, yes, I've also heard good things about OC in the past, and I'd also be inclined to go with it. PC Buy It is a new name to me.

Overclockers are generally decent, but they can be a bit annoying if you return a faulty product, one obviously dead hard drive was sent back to me as 'working'.

Did you get it sorted out eventually? Or were you stuck with it?

I found another monitor for you, its a 22" E-IPS based screen(which has only just hit the market)
Ooh, that looks interesting. IPS for sub-£200, I wonder how this E variant compares with the more expensive versions?
[edit]well sub £200 depending where you look, it's £230+VAT from Dell themselves.

I don't think that's the same one...

It's not, there are several different versions of 2209's. The E-ISP Biker linked initially was the 2209WA. This other one, the S2209W, is a TN panel, found the specs listing (
http://cutedge.org/full-hd-in-22-inches-the-dell-s2209w/) here.
I've just placed an order for the 2209WA off PcBuyIt (OC went out of stock yesterday), like one hour ago. In an almost comically predictable manner, 5 minutes after I was done placing the order, it started snowing. I'm now keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't impede the delivery, and I get it tomorrow.
