Request for a Simple but Very Helpful Mod... - by SpiDoL

Is there a way to remove the guy in the prison who insults you at the very beginning of the game?
Personally, I think it's very inconvenient and discouraging to have that guy there saying such mean and harsh stuff, and at the beginning of the game too! Come on!
This is not a joke. I personally think this is the most offensive part of the whole game. I really would like a mod that removes this person. I'm sure many other people who are easily offended will appreciate this.

There are various mods out there to skip the prologue, and thus the mean dark elf. There's one I had which just put you at the sewer exit with 100 gold, the amulet of kings and some torches and lockpicks. A better mod which I'm using at the moment is 'Alternative start by Robert Evrae', which has you arriving by boat at either the waterfront or in Anvil. You can choose your character's background, which determines your starting equipment and gold, adding a nice little roleplaying element. I would highly recommend it, but it is further away from original game than the other mod.
Also, if you want to do the dark brotherhood quests, you'll have to meet him on one of their missions either way.
Alternatively, if you want to play through the prologue, you could just hit the console, click on him and type kill before he can spout any of his insults at you. Not sure how this would affect that dark brotherhood quest though. Worst case scenario, you can't do the quest and thus can't finish the dark brotherhood plot line (at least not without some further console commands).

Thanks! I'll look for that mod right away.

Or you could make a save game right before the sewer exit, and then load that whenever you want to start a new character, since you then get the opportunity to change everything about your character. That's what I did just to skip all that boring "character generation in the sewers" nonsense.
