And I thought the (
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/13/education/13texas.html) Texas Text Book fracas was disturbing enough but now watch out for (
http://www.repentamarillo.com/) Repent Amarillo. (Caution: "This site is not designed for non-christians..." - No kidding! It's also off limits to non-idiots and the not-criminally insane.) (PS: turn down your sound before clicking that link.)
Their pledge - to leave no man behind (at the rapture). Under the covering fire of their crack "Intercessory prayer group" the "Soldier group" performs surgical witnessing on select groups and individuals, at various events and locations, such as Pride Days, Earth Day and Halloween parties.
It may all sound silly but they have already engaged in outing members of swingers groups by stalking their gatherings, recording license plate numbers, then illegally accessing registration information. In a mater of hours, using this personal information as leverage, they seek to terrorize people by publishing their accusations (with names and addresses) or by informing on people to their employers and such.
(

Will it stop at Amarillo? I wonder if Canada is far enough away from these nutbars.

Yeah, it didn't sound unusually crazy (just another evangelical group) till I saw the list of events. Earth Day? Really? And Breast Cancer events? I don't even get that one.

Apparently to highlight the 'link' between breast cancer and ABORTION.

Yeah, getting people fired by telling their employers that they are in a swingers club... Not only is that terribly immoral, I wonder if these guys really think they can win anyone over for their cause that way, like "I think I'll go join that group of people who just made me lose my job."
Aerothorn on 29/3/2010 at 20:49
What I don't get is - why is a job firing someone for being in a swingers club in the first place? You can't entirely blame Amarillo Repent for that one - the employer has equal or greater responsibility for being a jackass.

The phrase "We'll just tell folks around town about.." can go a long way. A small town business can literally die because of that sort of thing.

May god make them repent of playing the evil clowns on unsuspecting unbelievers.

Again, I find myself compelled to apologize to humanity in general for having ever been even remotely associated with a religion that spawns this type of stuff.
I'm so sorry. :(

Hey, it's not your fault or the religion's. Jackasses will be jackasses for any reason they can justify.
