Obtain 4 artifacts that give you +30 to an element. Typically, this is Batteries, with the +30% shock resistance. Equip them. Your resistance should now be 120%. Put on the suit you want to repair and find an anomaly that does that type of damage. Stand in it until the suit is repaired.
A 5th artifact will speed up repairs. Armor resistance is separate from Artifact produced resistance, and is applied separately - ie, artifacts all add to one resistance total, and it is multiplied with armor resistance, not added.

Interesting. I just ran across a new merc suit to replace my 50% depleted one after the firefight with the military in the abandoned factory not too far into the game. I'm really having trouble knowing whether the artifacts are worth the hassle of using though, radiation poisoning is a pain in the arse and quite a few have really minimal effects (like +2 bullet cap but -5 radiation wtf).

Most of the lower level ones are definitely not worth using. The +bulletproofing and radiation ones might be - primarily because armor isn't all that effective and degrades very quickly - but only if you've got something to counter the radiation. A single crystal can counter 4 equipped +5 radiation producers and still give you a radiation leak off. You're more likely to end up with 1 crystal, 1 moonlight, and 3 whatever though, simply because the stamina penalty is such an annoyance.
Obviously you'd be best off with the positive only ones, but mama's beads are a bitch to find.

The number of things that you say that I do not understand clues me in to how much of this game I've still to discover. I'm only just now getting close to discovering Strelok's stash and found the entrance bombed out :(

Interesting way how to repair armor, but it sounds so complicated I can't be bothered with such procedure. And I don't collect low level artifacs anymore, I let the rokies have them. Now that I have over 100 000 RUs I can afford to consume one stalker armor in two game days. Yeah I'm a damn consumerist. :D

Do all these artifacts have to be the same or just 4 of any kind that give +30% to an element?

The most artifacts that I have found that give +30% are two at a time. By the time I find more than that, my weight maximum goes over. Anyway, I usually just buy another Stalker armor from the Bar dealer when my own get's close to half damage.
I just found the Monolith armor under X16 which lasts much longer in firefights. Now the question is, will I be able to find another one?
Rogue Keeper on 16/4/2007 at 11:54
I think I found a Monolith armor somewhere in Wild Territory, but I sold it shortly afterwards.
I have such codex not to wear armor of a faction which I am not a member of (yet), but since we can't join Monolith, perhaps I start wearing it later in the game when dangers become more intensive.

They all have to be plusses to the same element to get your bonus to that element from resistance over 100% from artifacts alone. That's pretty much the same thing as all the same, since there are only +30 to a single element artifacts.
The advantage of repairing armor is primarily for the better stuff. Stalker suits are relatively inexpensive and easy to come by. Millitary Armored Suits and Armored Scientist Envirosuits are much harder to come by, and stupidly expensive, so getting all you can out of them helps a great deal.

Where can I find more artifacts that give +30? the most I can find is 2 of a kind My current game has about 20-30 hours in it, and I've been extremely thourough, so what am I missing?
