But... who has done this artwork??
Who is the artist?

Frank Teran did either most or all of them, I'm not sure. His signature's on all of those but the last one, and maybe I'm just not looking hard enough at that.

Someone did the TDS museum one a while back.
Ended up around 100,000 I think, which isn't bad for something that big, but he never got around to breaking it down into sections small enough to Smesh into the game.

Do you remember who? Did he take any screenshots?

It was a Max render, but there were pictures of it posted. It was (whoever that was) who found you can't have Smeshes over about 2000 polys I think it was, being why it never made it into the game.
And after a bit of playing with Search I can't find it, but I'll let you know if I do.
EDIT:
Seems he got further than I thought:

Thanks a lot for finding that, Zie. Looking at that rendering, all I can say is... Wow.
It's nice to know I'm not the only one interested in implementing that painting. If Jermi has that kind of prowess in Max, I can only imagine what he could do with the TDS editor.

Not much, trust me. The "top 10" on this forum are doing a heckuva job, and I know I couldn't even get close to what they're doing.
Ziemanskye on 17/12/2006 at 23:37
It was still a hell of a bit of work in Max though.
The Shroud on 18/12/2006 at 06:12
Heh, I'm sure there are many who would say they couldn't even get close to what you accomplished with that rendering, and I'm one of them. Excellent job.
