As you can see in the screenshot below, I made a new torch for my mission "RI"... and I wanted all the benefits of the OM torch so I made it a child of it. However, I want my own special particles, but it unfortunately, but expectly, it inherits OM's old school particles. How do I remove them from my custom torch before a place a instance of in it mission? I usually redefine a property but links is a whole other cookie.

I realized after I posted this that I could just master-replace all the flames for all torches, because I'm not going to use the OM style in my mission/gamesys anywhere. Still I wonder if there was a way...

I think the only way is to rearrange the archetypes. torches has most of the properties, and the TorchBasic metaprop has the links. You could remove that metatrop from torches create a new archetype between torches and its default child archetypes, put the metaprop on this.
I.e.
torches (without TorchBasic) > TorchFlame (with TorchBasic) > MechTorch, PaganTorch, torch
Archetypes immediately under torches would no longer inherit the ~ParticleAttachement links.

Excellent! Thanks R Soul. I was using sliptip's object emitting but then I realized that newdark has that bitmap addition to particles, much easier for torches.
