Hi there! I got some free time and finally finished remastering the audio for the Thief 2 movies.
Key changes:
- Removed noise
- Upscaled to full 22 kHz bandwidth
- De-esser applied.
I used modern AI RoFormer models to separate speech and other/music, and a noise removal model. I processed speech and the other/music separately. For speech enhancement, I used Adobe Podcast. The other/music I upscaled mostly with amplitude modulation (high frequency mirroring). Sometimes I used pitch shifting and high quality samples from the freesound.org.

I had to encode the videos in Vegas using the xvid codec with uncompressed audio (PCM 44100/16/Stereo). This is the only way that worked for me.
