Oprah Winfrey will announce on Friday's "The Oprah Winfrey Show" that she will end her talk show, said a spokesman for Winfrey's Harpo Productions.
"Oprah will be ending her talk show," Harpo spokesman Don Halcombe said Thursday. "She will be speaking about it on tomorrow's live show."
The show will air live from its Chicago, Illinois, studio at 9 a.m. CT (10 a.m. ET), he said.
The show will end on September 9, 2011, as its 25th season draws to a close, according to a letter from Harpo Inc. that President Tim Bennett addressed to partners and obtained by CNN affiliate WLS-TV.

In other news, renaming the Discovery Health Channel to the Oprah Winfrey Network? I usually try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but that seems a little too egotistical to swallow.

Weird thing about Oprah:
"It is seen by an estimated 42 million viewers a week in the United States."
Which is about 1 in 7 Americans. And yet I have never known anyone who (admitted to) watching Oprah. It's probably an age gap thing, and the audience is all baby boomers, or something.

According to her recommended book "The Gift" we can keep her on the air with positive self-talk.

Last year I was awarded an award by my college (can't remember the name) for being an awesome community member (in this case, for my work in student government). Which was very nice and flattering. Unfortunately, it came with a copy of The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World. Which I felt kind of obligated to read, but I simply couldn't bring myself to.
