Through many instances of corrupting someones computer by telling them to upgrade DirectX or get the latest drivers, i've become a strick adherer to the philosphy of If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just thought I'd let you know I'm from the South. Unless of course, there are specific features that you need in the upgraded version. And I submit to you the argument of Windows 98 vs. Windows ME. Don't upgrade, you'll regret it. Not to mention new DRM technologies in new versions and stuff ( ie. CloneCD 2.8.3.1 > CloneCD 4.1 since it reads discs straight without any software stuff ghaying it up. ) that just complicate matters.
Then again, this has nothing to do with the impending vBulletin upgrade, but it makes for good arguments.
edit: ps. microsoft is extending support for Windows 9x for another two years. Where are the posts stating that Microsoft is going to support its customers to match all those "MICROSOFT YOU HORRID BITCH DROPPING 9X SUPPORT" that came out during the initial announcement?

What about DOS, then? I used to see it as the most stable OS before XP that I ever used for gaming at least. It was never broke, but *we* all went out and stood in line for hours on end waitin' for Win '95.:weird:
*we*= not me

I mostly said it to try and wrankle MsLedd - we get into the "Upgrade Purely for The Sake of Upgrading!" vs. "These Kids Today With Their New-fangled Software - The Old Ways Are Better!" argument about once a week. And she (and you) are probably right. I just cannot, no matter how I try, resist the siren song of a new number after the "v." :)

What exactly is the upgrade going to do admins?

Check out this thread on the official site.
Please note that not all of the features listed will be activated on TTLG and we have not decided what will and will not be yet.
Child of Karras on 17/1/2004 at 16:07
Well I'll be damned if TTLG decides to use the Karma function. :p
