Jesus, those are in horrible condition. I can't fault the seller for being up front about it with the photos, but if you're going to spend a bunch of cash to get the original boxes, at least go for something that's a reasonable approximation of new!
If you know of a better condition copy, feel free to let us know. :D It may be overpriced, but if it is the only one available, then beggars can't be choosers. Of course you know what will happen, I go to buy it and find a sealed copy in an old school game shop for $20 a week later.

(
http://www.cdaccess.com/) was a great local game shop when it had an actual street location here. They used to have those big retail box games more than now apparently, but still have some great old stuff. The Shock games are not listed right now, but check back later or make a request there.

You might be in luck. I have a copy of SS1 enhanced edition in near-mint condition that I could sell to you. I bought it myself on eBay a couple of years back. I guess I could part with it if I get a good price, I could use some extra money for my upcoming wedding.
The CD didn't have a jewel case when I got it. I'm thinking maybe it came with a paper sleeve when it came out, maybe someone else who owns an original copy can confirm/deny that?
Somehow the Insert Image button doesn't work, so here are some links to ImageShack to some photos I made. Sorry for crappy iPhone photo quality.

I'm willing to sell it for $150 plus cost of shipping. I live in the Netherlands BTW, shipping would be about $10 I reckon. You can pay me through PayPal.
Let me know if you're interested.

Harvester,
First of all - congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I have to say, I'm impressed at the condition of the game. However, I JUST managed to snag a copy of the 'CD Enhanced Version' in rather good condition on eBay from a seller in Australia! I've actually never seen the 'slip case' version of System Shock before -- I wonder if that's something region specific. Either way it would have come with a jewel case, judging by the cutout on the inside of the box. Interesting.
I won't lie, I'm tempted (even though I have one on the way) haha. I'll wait til the Australian one comes in - if there's any problems and for whatever reason I need to continue looking, I'll message you on here.
Again, congratulations on your upcoming wedding, I wish you years of happiness ahead of you!
-Jack

My copy of the System Shock CD does have a jewel case. No paper sleeve in the front, though, just the image in the back.

I still have the poster that came with the game. I put it in a comic sleeve and kept it with my comics. box is long gone tho.

I have 2 original system shocks in the jewel case. One lid broke..lol But there are pictures front and back. Unless the front pic is the manual cover..have to check!

Valet2's picture is showing the back of the System Shock jewel case, which is exactly like mine. If it was supposed to have a front sleeve, then I've never seen it - I bought mine on eBay a few years ago and it came without a front sleeve (the System Shock that I bought originally in 1994 was on floppy disks).

I remember we used to have the floppy version. I remember one of the discs has an issue with a bad sector and it was a pain in the ass to move it from one disc to another because Scandisk demanded to have a free cluster to move the data to, and the disc, IIRC, had only one file, which was a part of a larger file that was combined together during install. Needless to say, I couldn't move it because of this one bad sector, and I couldn't fix it because we didn't have the ability to split the file up into smaller chunks. I don't remember now if I ever actually fixed it, but those discs are /way/ /long/ /gone/ by now. They are probably not even in a landfill anymore, but have either been burned and became vapor, or buried, rotten away, and became worm food. All this outside of my ability to avoid, since I didn't discard them.
Oh well...
I own two different type of installation CD-ROM discs. Does anyone know if LG ever pressed a third type of CD? I havn't done a file comparison yet to determine a difference in the actual Shock files, but one has the terminal access on it, and one doesn't. Both also have a slightly different CD art, one uses a smaller font and a slightly smaller scale of the elite cyborg dude.
