Loved DX, but DX:IW was a big dissapointment. I don't know what it is about IW that make me sad but the further i get into the game the more i feel it was a waste of a good oppertunity.

wow, seeing all the rants and raves about DX-IW makes me rather confused
i donno if, when i grab it, i will feel happy playing on such a beautiful engine, or depressed, playing it after what everyone has said about it(these and the gamespy forums)
but, judging by screenshots, the weapons look worse than the ones in system shock
btw, can someone post some screenshots while playing?
i hate official screenies

I believe the rumour is that the frame rate with dynamic lights AND water went through the floor, so the water was dropped.

why they chose to make WTO and the Order instead of just manipulating groups of pre-existing powers like the illuminati are supposed to do?

Personally, I agree with black caped man, and something I don't see anyone else understanding besides myself is, Black caped man X is saying a perfectly legitamate complaint about the game. The world is hallow. He is the crux and without him making those decisions of who he wants to join the world cannot go on. IN DX you could say; "Alright, I don't want to make a choice, I refuse, I don't want the blood on my hands." In the Lebedev example, you say this and walk off the plane, by doing this the world doesn't magically stop, Anna doesn't say, sorry, I'll wait for him to come back before I complete my objective, no, she pulls out his gun and blows a hole through his forehead. And with his example of the rock on the road, I fulheartily agree, the game makes you wither blow it up or roll it away, you cant go off the path for a second and walk around it and the return to the path. That's what was advertised with the game and it is lacking in it. I believe the game to be a worthy sequel (if not up to par with the first) but with such things like this I don't understand why the have you choose your side when advertising the making of your own destiny. You've hit the action to advance the plot, find out about dr. Nassif, so why can't you say; "alright Sid, I found out what I needed to know so lets go." No, you can't, it turns out to be, "Alright Sid, I found out what I needed to know, but hold on a second as I make a choice I don't understand why I have to make it." I don't think it's that ludicris of a thoguth by Black caped man to want his decision to actually matter and to have the right to refuse to part take in the petty squables of the independent factions rather then; "being on the side of the people" as JC so eliquently put it. Black Caped Man wants there to be a world he interacts with rather then a main character that the world interacts with. That's not the way it works in real live, so if you want to have a meaningful, realistic game, you should follow suit. Watch, I bet I was completely off of what Black Caped Man was thinking. Meh, oh well, I think I've brought out points in there own right. Oh, and sorry for the lack of paragraphs, what can I say, I'm lazy.

actually, I think Ayearepee understands pretty well too, and I'm sure there are some others, but I wanted to respond before my thoguths were cold, so to anyone whom thinks they grabs the situation well, I'm sorry.

"Aquinas core ---> this way!". I'm pretty sure that sign should read "Alex Jacobson's office". Why on earth must every exit point for a level have a door? Walking into load zones just not good enough? I was excited to go see UNATCO again but suddenly there is this ugly wooden door, of a similar texture to the ones in Lower Seattle. Also, the Inclinator isn't really a plausable mass transit device, especially with all the entrances reading "maintainance". Yeh, I agree, Deus EX 2's level design is TERRIBLE. They (Ion Storm) should really consider FIRE those level designer's lousy ass.
Every level design is a monsterosity in design. The skirting for the walls are all wrong and give a wrong sense of scale when inside, the column and pillars all have this weird width that just make you feel like a dwarf.
I totally agree with the inclinator, that was one of the worst lapse of logic... How can that be a transportation system for the MASS?.. (and with that tiny "maintenance door")
And not to mention, I think people at Valve should really take a good look at that inclinator... doesn't that remind people of something from HALF-LIFE?? wait.. OMG, it's a straight RIP OFF of Half life level.. GAWD.. those level designer is not only bad designer, they are lazy cheater who ripped off level design from other game.
About scale..Bathroom, toilet size are all wrong.. some ATMs are situated in research facility at some obscure location outside the doorway leading to a maintenance shaft..(wow, logical, I suppose engineers needs the ATM machine after a day working inside those shaft or something)... another one at the back of the alley (where it can easily be robbed and who the heck would go to the back of the alley of some dark street just to get some cash out??)... ... those are just pure idiotic design.. those ion storm designers aren't THINKING.
Countless other obviously illogical design.. some doors are "wooden" doors that just stand out from the metallic surrounding (where you would expect a metal door)
To be honest, I can't even be bother to finish the game right now (I am upto Cairo)... The only thing that can still keep me going is to see JC Denton from DX1...that's about it.
