The real numbers are never going to be public of course. The Dishonored franchise could have been set aside because the concept (Dunwall, Corvo, Emily, etc.) was getting played out, and not because of sales.
Before D2 was announced, both Harvey and Raph said they didn't want to do a sequel. The success of the first game led to the second one, otherwise I'm assuming they would have made something else. If I had to wager money, I'd bet that the entire reason they killed off the Outsider was so they could say "look, we're done with this series". And they made another game after that in the same universe anyway, which is kind of awesome. That's kind of the direction I hope they go in, because I'm more interested in seeing what new ideas they can cook up instead of having the same experience every 5 years.

They still need to do Prey 2 so that they have a corresponding game to all major LGS titles. Then they can do a mech game and retire.

I thought last week that I'd love to see Arcane's take on the SWAT series. SWAT 4 excelled at credible, lived-in spaces, and seeing Arkane do their magic at that kind of game in a modern engine would be *chef's kiss*.

I like it. Sometimes Arkane leans on the possibility spaces afforded by fantasy and sci-fi to flex their level design and emergent gameplay muscles. Exercising the pardox of constraints by flexing those same aptitudes in credible, lived-in spaces with multiple, dynamic real world (or at least semi-real world) mechanics... oh, me likey.

Just remember that it's
may, not will.

Do people play videogames on devices that aren't connected to the internet in 2023?
Starker on 23/3/2023 at 12:30
Why does a single player game have to require an always online connection in the first place? Issues with internet connections are not exactly unheard of. And it's not always the ISP that fails, sometimes it's the publisher that fails to provide a reliable service.
From the customer's point of view, it has no benefits and only potential downsides.

As is typical, the PC Gamer and RPS previews seem to tell me more about the authors than about the game.
