This line shocks me:
Quote:
At Arkane's headquarters in Austin, Harvey Smith and Ricardo Bare, respected industry veterans, were tapped to serve as co-directors of Redfall.
Harvey Smith
was tapped? I thought he headed the studio. Arkane has far less autonomy than I thought.

Hey, tapping a Harvey Smith can generate three plaid mana per turn. Don't knock it.

I do kinda wonder whether the AI is worse if you're playing with others; at times the vampires and cult members seemed to get confused over who to attack.
But yeah, it's not aggressively horrible.

Pretty damning that this is the highest compliment that you can pay it.
Since it's live service cancer, maybe it'll be better a year from now? Assuming MS don't cut their losses. MS 1st party games are just loss leaders for their subscription service after all, there's not much short term incentive for them to improve everything. Shareholders only care about short term revenue after all.

I saw Dana post just a broken heart emoji and figured it was bad news.
Shame as Arkane is one of the few good guys left standing.
To anyone wondering, it's just the Austin office closing.
The Lyon office is still going.

This really sucks. Ghostwire: Tokyo was really good, and Prey by Austin is my fave Arkane game.

I haven't played it yet (I guess I should in case the servers get shut down at some point) but closing Austin for making a bad game would make more sense to me if the studio were the reason it was bad, when it's pretty obvious it was bad because it was designed by a bunch of suits at Zenimax. Hopefully most of those affected can end up back in Lyon or working with Raph over at WolfEye.
