RE: The Total Recall Canadian TV series. It was a Blade Runner-ish police procedural, quite atmospheric. Definitely one of the better productions that was amongst numerous Canadian TV sci-fi shows from the late 90's/early 00's. Although it was nothing that would top the excellence of Earth: Final Conflict Season 1.

Did you know that Jan de Bont (Speed, Twister) wanted to turn Minority Report into a Total Recall sequel, about mutants from Mars who can predict the future? Of course, that was all dropped when Steven Spielberg came on board, but you could've had your sequel right there...
HE was in line to direct Minority Report?! Thank god that it didn't come to pass, de Bont is a talentless hack.
I would've liked to have seen David Cronenberg's vision for Total Recall, it might've been so much more than a meat-headed Arnie action vehicle (not that I did't enjoy Verhoeven's film for what it was).

Eh, I didn't really like the series all those many years ago when I saw a couple of episodes of it. Sorry Matt, but Farscape stole my heart away around then. <3

Ew. I'm not surprised that wasn't greenlit. Note the above requirement for the Governator and sordid hijinks with three-titted women.

TR2070 was, as Eva says, basically a 'we can't afford the Blade Runner rights so let's buy the Total Recall name for marketing clout and just make a Blade Runner series' show. Sadly it never made it past one series, but it was very good.
Agreed about Earth Final Conflict Eva, just a shame it all went downhill in my humble opinion. I don't think I even watched past season 3 or so.
And while we're at it, I want Earth 2, GvsE and Space: Above and Beyond back please TV execs kthx.

So, I am playing this and Risen concurrently. I saw that there are a few gameplay DLCs (2 MP and a SP prelude campaign). I ask the forums, how are they? I am particularly interested in the SP DLC, but if the MP ones are good and people are still playing it online, I'll consider those too. Thanks.
Fafhrd on 6/5/2011 at 01:36
You're playing on 360/PS3, I presume (the PC version had all the DLC pre-installed)?
I'd get the SP DLC, it's kind of a prequel mini-campaign where you play as Samanya while she was still with the Marauders. It's set in a completely different environment and has some pretty fun new weapons.
I don't think the MP community is very active any more (but I could be wrong. It's been fucking dead on PC since forever, thanks to GFWL), so the MP DLC isn't really worth it. If you like the hotseat MP destruction mode that I can't remember the name of THAT DLC pack might be worth it.

Awesome, thanks. And that is a truly grand idea for a prequel (the Marauder days). I always wondered if the rest of the game filled us in on her time there.
Oh, and any tips for destroying Harrington Bridge? I can't seem to quite get it destroyed.
And yes, I am playing on 360. I own it for PC, but it ran like shit, my aging PC is 90% of the reason I got the console. Exclusives being the other 10%.

Is Harrington the one in Eos or the Badlands? Usually I just use the nanorifle for bridges, but the Eos one is harder since you're basically swarmed by elite everything as soon as you look at it funny. If you can last long enough to commandeer the big missile tank and haul ass back to a safe house, then you can drive it back and finish the bridge off.

You have to use the nanorifle for the one in Badlands from memory. The one in Eos I left until much later (it's actually kinda handy for driving around if left intact. Funny that). By then I had the stupid huge missile launcher which makes pretty short work of it.
gunsmoke on 6/5/2011 at 21:30
Yes, I am asking about the bridge in Badlands. Thanks both for your replies. I have upgraded my nanorifle twice now, and I assume that taking it down is precisely taking out critical supports as opposed to mass destruction?
