Just played the segment where I had to save Bonnie, due to the pacing of the game and the bond that slowly builds I really felt the pressure to shoot that fucking rope when she got swung. I had stuffed an earlier save from bandits up at hangman's rock and his buddy broke down into tears after I missed the shot and his pal died. :(
One thing though that's a minor frustration if something goes wrong and say I blow the head off the wrong person or make a false move at some point, it seems like you can't reverse out of it. Even if you load prior versions of the game, some of the effects still exist - for example, I mistakenly pulled out my gun in the store and fired, everyone got super jumpy, long story short: I killed the shopkeeper and was informed the store would be closed for 5 days and a drop in my honour level. I reloaded to a recent previous save (despite not using a shop thus far, but y'know, for consistency) and the shop was unavailable as though the death had still occurred?

The save system is a little wonky. I think the reason for this is because the game tries to autosave some things, but not others. The programmers realized sometimes people will go a long time without making a proper save, and they don't want to lose everything if they happened to, you know, get killed by a wild cougar.
The choices of what autosaves and what doesn't though can be weird sometimes.

Just "finished" Red Dead Redemption and it was really awesome as far as the story goes. I'm a little disappointed with playing Jack from here on out, because he just doesn't look or sound like the badass cowboy I grew accustomed to. Such a whiny little kid voice. But this is probably the first "GTA" style game from Rockstar that I've really enjoyed the story in, I was very happy that it never devolved into the teenage obsession with sex, drugs and pointless killing that all the GTA games turn into in their "storylines."
Rockstar should definitely keep plugging away at the western theme, they're very good at it.

Avalon, I was also pleased to note that while whores/brothels feature they are never rammed in your face or a prominent part of the game. It's good that they are there for the flavour of the times, but for our characters needs it is unrealistic that they be a functional attribute of the game - and what does it add anyway?
This is a game that panders more to the 20+ audience and less to the 12+ audience.

Wouldn't know, didn't play it.
This game continues to impress, though I struggled to fulfill a certain mission a number of times (which led to frustration) because I didn't know how to "hogtie" as opposed to "lasso and drag". :D

Oh my god the ending of this game fucks with all kinds of gaming conventions. I hear that the game isn't over until the end credits roll so I still have a bit to go but it's like this game could've ended twice already and simply left it at "and they lived happily ever after" but NOPE. So I guess this is the prologue I'm playing right now. Whatever it is, it certainaly is the stuff that western-movies are made of, and I'm loving it.

Is anyone here playing this online on a regular basis (on the PS3, that is)? I'm not online all that much, but it'd definitely be fun to bump into some of you while riding around. My PSN ID is Thirith_ch.
