Okie-doke! My brains functioning now, so what you've said makes perfect sense.
For instance, before the 40's movies were mostly played 4:3 in the cinemas. With the introduction of widescreen formats, a latter combination of 1.33 1 was made, I think... Dunno, maybe my terminology is off.
