There certainly is music you just have to listen to a few times before you get it. Forcing yourself to hear something new and out of the ordinary can be very rewarding and Portishead is such a case. Also it makes you cool.

it sounds like a total poseur move, but it's not as though I hate the music. I only hate a single aspect of it, and past experience has taught me that sometimes perseverance can lead to greater appreciation. Some of my favourite albums, ones I would go so far to as say have actually improved my life, took several listens before I understood them.
