I always seem to get conflicting info about this. I have 3/4 gig of RAM (768 MB) and a 40 gig hard drive running XP. What size virtual memory should I set (parameters)? Thanks! :thumb:

As far as I know there is no advantage to fiddling with the Virtual Memory settings unless you're using your PC as an email server or some other specific task. Too much virtual memory will slow the PC when it's not needed, too little will slow the PC when it is and on a Desktop PC demands change according to what you're doing, what time of the month it is and so on. So I'd vote for the 'Let Windows do my Virtual Memory Please' option. Assuming nothing is broken, the surest way of getting a speed boost without resorting to hardware upgrades is to switch off any unnecessary startup services (msconfig) and background tasks and make sure you've got a good little chunk of free space on the hard drive.
That said, I don't really know what I'm talking about so I could be wrong.

Cool, thanks. That is the setting I had it on, so I'll probably just leave it there, unless someone corrects us. As for the rest of your advice, I am well aware of those tips, but thank you anyway.
