Just to reiterate: I think refusing to watch anything with subtitles is a huge mistake if you are looking for good anime. You are needlessly limiting your enjoyment and resources by doing that. You think it will make them hard to watch but it really wont. It might feel a little odd for a few episodes but you will quickly get used to it and you wont even have to look at them, you will just kind of absorb them.
Also when you watch enough anime you start to pick up the language and recognize phrases and words without reading, it becomes very second nature and not at all a pain in the ass.

That reminds me I actually learned most of my english and german by watching cartoons on cable tv. I managed to completely surprise my parents - one day, we were watching Home Alone in german, dad was doing the translating as he knows a bit of german, then he fell asleep. Mom was trying to wake him up when the church conversation between Kevin and the old guy started, then I stood up and promptly started translating. Parents were completely flabbergasted, they had no idea. :cheeky:
Didn't work with anime and japanese sadly, guess I was too old when I started watching the stuff.

It's helped my Japanese by leaps and bounds. But I was independently studying it at the same time.
