I'd still say it's not as much as, oh, say Afro Samurai. Not filled to bursting, at least. The point of Mononoke actually isn't stylised, over-abundant violence unlike the gazillions of other animé out there.

Agreed. It was funny though when I saw Mononoke at the cinema, people were completely unprepared, bringing their kids to se a "cartoon", then walking out 10 minutes in, throwing hissy fits :laff:.
