This month marks a landmark in my life, I am having a new baby, and I need some music over the next few weeks to help enrich this joyous time. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to look around for new music. I have tried four or 5 new albums from some of my favourite artists but they have been mediocre at best. So I need something truly fantastic to get into.
Throw it at me. However you are only allowed to suggest one album each. So it has to be a good one :D

Throwing a drop of water into an ocean.
Can you give us your five favourites as an indicator of what you like, at least?

I guess Alice Cooper : Welcome To My Nightmare is not appropriate.

You've probably already got it, but I'd think Godspeed You! Black Emperor "Lift Yr Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!" might be appropriate for baby arrival/general joyousness.

I left those out intentionally because I like a wide variety of things, and I am trying to broaden my horizons... Plus like I said, several artists that I have traditionally liked have given me some mediocre releases lately ...
But anyway, if you must -- Some of my favourite artists are: Imogen Heap, Tori Amos, Natalie Merchant, Goldie, Orbital, ATB, Lene Marlin, Twarres
But really I like all kinds of stuff. I guess a recurring theme here is female vocal pop, but I tend to be pretty picky about what I like because there is a lot of shit out there too

You like all kinds of stuff, but you're pretty picky? Whatever, here's a pile of things:
Thao - We Brave Bee Stings and All
Camille Saint-Saens - Symphony #3, "Organ"
Polyphonic Spree - Wait EP
Cornelius - Fantasma
AU - Verbs
Caribou - Andorra
Psapp - Tiger, My Friend
Camille - Le Fil
Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings - 100 Days, 100 Nights
Colourmusic - f, monday, orange, february, venus, lunatic, 1 or 13
Sigur Ros - Takk...
This has really been the week for music threads, hasn't it?

I second the Sigur Ros.
And I'll add:
Explosions In the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone...
Shout Out Louds - Our Ill Wills
The Streets - Everything Is Borrowed

Guys you only get ONE suggestion each!
I suggest Azeda Booth - In Flesh Tones, cause it has a soft, weird, creepy kinda neonatal vibe. Sorta sounds like girl pop, but there's no girls in the band.

Never heard of any of these! I went and listened to all of them on youtube. Bunch of crazy lofi stuff that is way underproduced compared to the stuff I am used to listening to. I wasn't even aware genres like this existed.. Not sure how I feel about half of it but Thao and Sigur Ros have definitely gotten my attention. Thanks dude :D

Explosions in the sky is intriguing ...
The Streets -- finally someone I have heard of :) Yeah I don't really like his new album as much as the others. Grand don't come for free is my favourite I think
