No? Ok, must be remembering incorrectly then. Doesn't really matter anyway, with regards to this thread.
Heh, yeah I only brought it up because House's solitary woundedness kind of defines him, whereas Fitz is quite the social disaster area and actually does use his powers to manipulate people into his screwed up life and out again.
They're also both unlikely older sex symbols played by actors who made their name in comedy.
House is relatively light melodramatic fare.
Cracker on the other hand is a mean, mean show. They would be great to get in a room together though, like Thirith says.
(I just bunged on
Edge of Darkness again because I thought of it. There goes a day. Fark, that show is good)

I love Dexter. I haven't enjoyed a show like that since Crackers. The dialogue is great. All the actors on the show are extremely good, even the small roles.
Don't read the books, though. The first one, Darkly Dreaming Dexter, is like a summary of the first season with major plot and character changes. After watching the show it was like reading a Star Wars novel.
The second book, Dearly Devoted Dexter, is probably the best. Extremely violent, but much better written than the first. The third book is drifting off into fantasy. The author is clearly trying to avoid copying the first two books. I wonder if the same thing happens to the show.

I like House for House, but the formula is getting really tiring. Each episoge has the exact same structure: a seemingly healthy person has something happen to them, arrives at the hospital then two days or so later is on the verge of death due to complications etc, then they find a miracle cure and wham, person lives happilly ever after.

I thought season 4 did a pretty good job of revitalizing House, though. I felt pretty bleh about season 3 like you say, but things kept on getting better and better throughout season 4 until the mindblowing last two episodes, which I think are the best they've had to date.
Thirith on 14/8/2008 at 07:07
Yup, that's one of the best ones. The standard episodes are still reasonably enjoyable for House himself, but apart from the good lines they could've been written by a computer programme. The plots are immensely exchangeable.
Since someone mentioned anime earlier on: I hear that
Death Note is a very good series. Haven't seen it myself, though.

Death Note is pretty cool. In the US it's been on the Cartoon network's Adult Swim recently.
The conceit is that there's a special kind of notebook, when you write someone's name in it they die instantly. The main character (a highschool student that's too logical for his own good) is using it for vigilante justice. Then there's a shadowy Interpol agent deductively tracking him down, apparently with his own tricks.
It has moments when it goes overboard with the cheesy supernatural stuff, but aside from that the basic story itself has kept me hooked.

Another vote for The Venture Bros. -- Johnny Quest meets the Hardy Boys meets Seinfeld. Great characters. Watch it from the beginning, though, or you won't know what's going on.
More comedy: 30 Rock

30 Rock is definitely awesome stuff. While I like the situational awkward humor in things like Arrested Development and The Office, sometimes I just enjoy that clear-cut obvious humor that shows like 30 Rock deliver.

Not sure if anime counts
Despite being part Japanese, I've never really liked anime myself. My friend had to convince me to watch Cowboy Bebop, and I enjoyed that along with Samurai Champloo (same director), but I just can't seem to get into any other ones.
Most of the stuff by Studio Ghibli is gold, although I heard the recent one by Miyazaki's son was utter piss.
