I used to have a pretty good calender gadget on my iGoogle homepage. Crucially, it let me mark things to remember on specific days, so that I could easily get an overview of deadlines and other things that needed to be done by a specific day. Now it's gone down, and I'm struggling to find a replacement. Does anyone know of a decent, free alternative?

Well, google calender seems to be a good bet, not quite sure how I missed it before. It even comes with an iGoogle gadget, though it's not as good as the one I had before. Oh well.

Looks good, but didn't she die or something?

I use (
http://www.rainlendar.net/cms/index.php) Rainlendar and I quite like it. Can bolt it onto the desktop, highly customisable, good features and interface,
but it doesn't use an online database so it's not something terminal independent that you can access from any computer. Apparently there is an option to have it work with online calendars, but you need to pony up for Rainlendar Pro if you want that feature.
