I'm looking at 27" full HD monitors. I will be using it primarily for gaming but also for watching movies. I'm leaning towards the (
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/vx2753mh-led.html) Viewsonic VX2753. This monitor has a dead pixel guaranty and a 1ms response time. I like Viewsonic's customer service, and I know their monitors are reliable and good quality. Those things are more important to me than a bargain price. Is anyone else using this monitor or have any recommendation on another one?

Viewsonics are always decent, but that monitor is just...meh. Since it sounds like you're willing to spend a bit more cash, I'd suggest going with one of (
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=225-4015) Dell's Ultrasharp monitors. Not only does it sport a higher resolution (2560x1440 vs 1920x1080), but it uses a far superior IPS panel. The Viewsonic you linked to uses a lower end TN panel, which means it can't display the full sRGB gamut (which leads to banding in gradients and other weird color issues), and the viewing angles are usually terrible (you have to be sitting directly in front of it with your eyes perfectly level to the center of the screen to get the best experience).
And don't worry about response times. Anything below 15ms is nigh unnoticeable.

Came here to post about Ultrasharps, had dinner, forgot about it, came back, found Renz had beaten me to it. God dammit Renz.

Nice! My budget was $500, but that one looks worth waiting another month to save the extra money since it's an early birthday present to myself.
Anybody have any others they like?

You really don't want a TN 27'' panel - the narrow view angles are a problem for bigger screens. IPS is a good choice. You can find some decent *VA panels too but if you have the money to buy that Dell UltraSharp go get it :) (Next better choice would be Eizo but the prices are usually out of range for most people)

The Eizo is just WOW! But, yeah, that's more than I should spend. I think the UltraSharp is a better option for me.
I didn't know about the TN panel issue. I did some reading and understand much better now. Thanks y'all! :thumb:

Regarding the Dell-
Pros:Its an AH-IPS panel which is a very good start, but there are plenty of other IPS based monitors out there.
You can get a lot done with the massive native res of 2770*1440.
It has an AG (anti glare/non shiny) coating which is a massive plus in my book.
have a nice low black level of 0.14, which is another plus in my book - this is good for playing thief.
Its has a USB 3.0 hub.
Cons:check the pixel guarantee as it may not be the same as the viewsonics.
it dosent have 10bit colour output, which is a poor show considering this is a premium monitor.
Almost all the games your gonna be playing wont perform well at 2770*1440

Since I'll be primarily gaming and only occasionally watching movies, I should consider that games haven't caught up to the tech yet.
Dell has the same bright dot policy for premium monitors, but I know from experience that Viewsonic will replace with one dark pixel as well on covered monitors. They do have excellent customer service, though Dell isn't bad. Both our current pcs are Dells.

My system: AMD Radeon HD 6570 2GB; AMD Phenom II X6 1045T 2.7 GHz; 16GB RAM; Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Well, Thief obviously, but that's not an issue. More modern stuff: Starcraft 2, Dishonored, Portal 2, Deus Ex HR, Hitman.
