Okay, so we all knew it was going to happen sooner or later. The flood of Thief3-ers that would rampage through our corridors, dropping punctuation and spelling as they spill messily through our neatly kept rooms.
I don't know if what we've been witnessing on CommChat as of late is a precursor to this, or if it's just the sad, sad, sad state of the world today. Regardless, discussion should be had (and I imagine it already has among the admin/mod circle) about institutionalising some form of punishment. I'm not saying 'STOP FREE SPEECH', by no means, I'm just saying 'STOP SHITE' and 'STOP SPAM'.
Maybe there should be something in the rules about willful spamming resulting in temporary bans. I don't know, I'm just fishing for ideas and opinions.
It's just really starting to piss me off. It's like I just got my dog house-trained, then two neighbourhood dogs break in every day while I'm at work and shit all over my carpet.

If the majority of these newbies are 13-year old AOLers, I'm not sure how much can be done. They probably don't realise that their silly banal topics are greatly annoying to most people, and don't recognise their actions as spamming. It's just a question of maturity. I mean, you can take each one and try to explain to them... but then another will come along with "OMG LOL I had pizzar for dineh", and another...
Perhaps renaming Community Chat would be an idea? Replace the title with "General Discussion" or something like that instead. The word "chat" does imply mindless banter about trivial crap. Also a sticky thread titled "PLEASE DON'T POST POINTLESS DRIVEL, YOU MORONS".

Lhet often acts like a spammer, yet he appreciated the rules above. Ironic isn't it?

I act like a spammer???? Ooooh....:tsktsk:
My posts almost ALWAYS have content.. Whether it is my opinion on a trailer or what i learned from the experiences, i include content.
Scots Taffer on 4/9/2003 at 12:33
Well, I suppose even vomit has content.
Technically.

Oooh, that's acid.
I suggest something a bit more powerful that a sticky. If a shitty little 13 year old is going to post something inane, why would they take the time to read the stickies?
Noid had a good idea, and I will expand on it: Make a forum dedicated to complaints against spammers... perhaps admins only, where one would vote whether or not to bad certain users who detract from the general forum experience.
It is a little radical.. and if done improperly, can be easily abused.... but it's an idea.
