Real life... association with Thief - by clearing

I meant to post this years ago, but I don't think I ever did. It's a painted wood carving I bought in Tenerife 18 years ago. It's not the most exquisitely crafted piece of art in the world, but for some reason it felt Thiefy to me. Looking at it now I'm not convinced, but it has a certain artisanal charm. And it was cheap.

There have been times in FMs where I thought a massive wooden beam has been created just to provide a convenient place for rope arrows and player navigation, but here's a page with a painting of an old street showing that massive wooden beams were sometimes a real thing:

I'm not 100% sure of their purpose though, but it looks like these massive wooden beams were there to brace the surrounding structures.
