A lot of the paintings featured in TDP/TMA are from The Met in New York. They have copyright free, high-res digital copies on their web site, which you can use in any way you see fit!
(

It's a wonderful resource!
I had planned to do a series of videos for various levels, that included one specifically for paintings in the Thief series.
Edit: In fact, regarding The Met, you could download your fave painting from Thief, take it along to your friendly neighbourhood print shop and have it printed on canvas, get an old frame and hey presto, you have a cool piece of Thiefy artwork for your home!

Thank you, Purgator! What a wonderful compilation you made. I'd be happy to see more people perceiving Thief games as not just mere entertainment, but pieces of digital art, heavily inspired by history, art and philosophy. What do you think?

I've included portraits of the various artists whose work features in Thief, these paintings don't appear in game.

Great choice in music for this one Purgator! And thanks again for making these. We have to remember this to finish the canon texture pack.

Thanks. Admittedly, I knew very little about Henri Fantin- Latour's work. I've just discovered his lithographs and they are magnificent!

Thank you very much, Purgator. Another fan of art history, huh? Pleased to meet you.
PS: I'd love to visit old megalithic ruins, monasteries and round towers of Ireland one day.

Thanks, Aemanyl. In answer to your earlier question, it would be lovely if more people felt that way about Thief. Perhaps we would have more books and articles about the subject. I would certainly love a coffee table book based on the artwork within the game.
I live in the west of Ireland, it has more than its fair share of ruined castles and ancient tombs. Quite inspiring.
Oh, and nice to meet you too, fellow art lover! :)
