It took a hell of a long time to get all my Thief games installed and working properly with Garretloader, now it looks like I have to do it all over again, with Vista.
Here's a question. Do I have to install both Thief: The Dark Project & Thief Gold, or will Thief Gold give me access to FM's that relate to Thief 1.

Thief Gold contains all TDP resources and the extra resources for the Thief Gold missions, so you only need install TG to be able to play TDP or TG FMs.

Thank you very much for the quick response. Some of the Thief DP FM's are my favorites, and I was quite prepared to install DP as well as Gold if I had to.

You probably already know this but just in case, don't install the games in the "Program Files" folder in Vista. Create a separate folder(s) for the games on your C drive for example.

Actually, I didn't know that. Thanks for the advice.
I prefer Garretloader to Darkloader. Is there a reason to choose Darkloader over Garretloader ?

Also, I'm running Vista 64bit version. Is that an issue ?

I have used GarrettLoader since Beta. I thought it owned Darkloader. Well, it has a lot of features, but it crashes and requires frequent re-installs. DarkLoader is very stable in my experience.

I like the features that Garretloader provides as well. It hasn't crashed on me, though I can't seem to get ThiefG to work. Thanks for the advice.

I remember having issues with Thief working with dual core processors and various graphics cards. Is there a thread someone can direct me to which addresses some of these problems.
Right now I have ThiefG installed over the Vista 64bit platform. It freezes up after a minute or so of playing. I had this problem before with XP, so I don't think it's a Vista issue. If I recall correctly, it was due to the processor.
My processor = Intel dualcore 6700 @ 2.66GHz
My video card = NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
DirectX version 10.0
Thanks in advance for any help offered.
I've just now noticed the thread in a red font that will probably help me. I'd still appreciate feedback though. :)

Try the (

FAQ.
And there are a hundred threads about the dual and multi-core processors, so let us know any specifics you can if the FAQ doesn't lead you to a solution.:)
