No problem, we have plenty of synthetic funky shit.

Prairie grass makes a cheaper and more efficient biofuel and sorghum has it's own sugar component. Corn must have a better lobbyist.
I wonder how much petrol is burned shipping cheap food from China. How much in ferilizer used there compared to here? Not that I think any country should rely on any other for basic foodstuff as possible disaster lurks there.

There is a simple solution to this. Subsistence farming.
After the last of my brothers graduates college in a few years, my whole family is moving down south in the middle of nowhere. We're going to buy a big plot of land and farm it, as well as keep a few goats for milk b/c my mother is lactose intolerant.
We'll save tons on food budget as well as avoid the upcoming economic crisis.
We'll shoot the fools who try to loot our supply. It's MY food dammit!

you guys grab the goats, I'll take the grain

I'd just like to ask who the FUCK eats 50 lbs. of rice in a month (in America)?

50 lbs/person I cannot see.
50 lbs/family/month is less then my girlfriend's family eats.
