To blame for constantly shovelling as many of the game's questionable design choices in your face as possible, and then complaining about their frequency.
EDIT: fuck you, page 5. :(

Holy crap, the amount of anal retentiveness is staggering. Yes, it's a pun.
Listen, it's not like the original Deus Ex was some pinnacle of inspired gameplay design and writing. It had some pretty poor stealth mechanics on its own.
HR does some things right, and some things wrong. Melee stealth players who don't like mimesis-breaking 'cinematic' takedowns that freeze time are going to hate them. I don't give a toss, really, because I had other options to choose from instead of arbitrarily limiting the paths I took while playing the game. Whether it irks you so much that you feel the need to cleanse your colon here in the forums is up to the sensitivity of your anus; suffice to say that you're free to your opinion - though in my opinion, you're just like Papy, only with a tighter sphincter - but repeatedly harping on this post after post does you no favours.
It might be hard for you to see this, but re: takedowns interrupting the flow of the game and the cover system not being terribly immersive sim enough for hardcore stealthers, the lack of leaning, etc. -- a lot of us agree that these are poor tradeoffs. But unlike you, a lot of us didn't let it stop us from enjoying the rest of the game.
If we were talking about Bioshock vs. SS2, that's a different story. As it stands, DE:HR is a more than decent attempt at bringing back that style of gameplay, and, despite its faults, it's quite enjoyable to most of us who haven't seen it in a while. You didn't enjoy the game because you had a specific path you expected to take through it, and it didn't cater to your exact demands. Well, too bad for you. To paraphrase Jean-Luc Godard a little, the best way to criticise a game is to go make your own.

This thread is a wonderful example of how conversations on the internet tend to become militant - I'm pretty certain that most of us agree many of the flaws mentioned here are indeed flaws, but the vehemence with which the game is then decried by some and defended by others... Brings back wonderful memories of the Great C-64 vs. CPC 464/Spectrum Wars or the Battle of Amiga vs. Atari ST.

NO U :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Seriously though, yeah, this thread IS getting stupid (and I'm getting stupider).
Gentleman's agreement, everyone? Or shall we say pistols at dawn? I'd suggest sabres at dawn, but y'know, no melee weapons. :erg:

let's change the subject
let's talk about why bioshock is a better game than system shock 2
Sulphur on 1/12/2011 at 11:36
No. Bioshock = System Shock minus the inspiration plus a liberal helping of gimped gameplay and gimmickry to appeal to the ADD-addled.
I personally believe the real reason Levine chose the Randian subtext was to demonstrate that anyone who pays enough attention to Objectivism eventually turns into a deranged homicidal lunatic. It's the only explanation for everything that went down in Rapture.
I liked large swathes of the game despite itself, though. :erg:

No, you're to blame for acting like a spoiled child.
You remind me of a guy I knew. I was playing badminton with him. A few years ago, the international federation decided to change one rule. If a tie of 13-13 was reach, there was no more the possibility of a 5 point extension. None of us really cared, we all played with the new rule, except for that one guy who went on a crusade trying to convince us that this somehow made a game less fun. When we were playing with him, we always had to agree to play with the old rules or he would simply refuse to play.
We just stopped playing with him and the guy left the club.

Do you really think someone can play a game as long as Human revolution while not enjoying it?

I see your sphincter is also quite tight. ;)
