I was just thinking if hammerite's periscope or mechanical watcher could be made with a 3d printer and integrate it with a computer vision architecture model, lets say YOLOv8/v9 or r-cnn (I used to tinker with computer vision models and seem to need to catch up because it was a long time ago)
for the following case I wonder if a board like Nvidia Jetson NANO is necessary or not. Just for fun, no profit
There are other solutions such as Frigate NVR, it already includes an AI module. Their self-host option fits my bill, but I want to fill in the gaps of knowledge and see how it works without an off the shelf solution. I want to put it in my new house but i should take heed of the privacy implications

Got a nice deal with an (laptop 1920-1080 15.6 inches) Acer Gamer G Intel Core i5 13th gen 13420H (8 cores and 4 virtual cores/multi threading I'm guessing) 16GB RAM 512GB SSD and Windows 11, and nVidia RTX2050 4GB video RAM, I was about to get an ASUS AMD Ryzen 5 but it had only 8GB RAM and the same video card and HDD it was even a bit more expensive go figure it out by then bucks more.
I got it for 646.95 USD. It was a bit more expensive before (around 750 something) but since it wasn't selling because of 13th gen problems the price came down a lot.

I realized mechanical watcher can't hear noise at all in thief and TDM, much less voice conversation , so is it better to add some kind of phased array microphone for acoustic source localization?
combat bots and builder children can already hear anything :D :D
but i think it just adds more layer of difficulty, it adds alot to player's plate

It still blows my mind that modern cheaper laptops have specs from the early 2000's, and far worse storage.
I've seen 32 or 64 GB EMMC flash storage with 4 GB of RAM in stores in the $200-300 range. Plus I hear they usually don't last a year.
I mean I get not everyone can afford a high end laptop, but you're better off buying a used business class laptop for the same price than this garbage.
well considering the ballooning size of modern software and os updates, you need at least 256 GB
I haven't heard of emmc for a long time, hasn't it been surpassed by ufs?

It's these types of laptops. I'm surprised they can even boot up. I saw one at a store (don't remember the exact brand, but similar specs and low price), and even the build is flimsy, they used almost paper thin plastic. It felt like if you hold it the wrong way it will just come apart

Is this a return of netbooks? I remember everybody wanted a cheaper laptop during the recession and they were crap. This looks like more of the same.

Yeah pretty much. They're being touted as great for streaming and browsing, so we can read between the lines...

I'm actually a bit pissed on the waste of resources to make this kind of cheap crap that breaks so easily and even while it hasn't broken yet it's so shit almost no user would be satisfied with it.
It's like this cheap tablet that my father has by Lenovo. He already had to reset it to factory setting multiple times because stuff wasn't working or it became too slow. It has stuff like Dolby Atmos which my iPad Air doesn't even have, but the speaker sounds so crappy and tinny that my iPad ends up sounding way better in comparison.
